Toby Keith's new single is being promoted with phrase, "Spin it Now or Fits Gonna Hit The Shan!", but no scrambled letters were needed, "American Ride," will have a fast ride to the top.

MEANWHILE TOBY GIVES BACK TO THE TUNE OF OVER HALF A MILLION

Toby Keith's sixth annual golf and music fundraising weekend
to benefit Ally's House raised more than half-a-million dollars to help children with cancer and their families in Keith's native Oklahoma. The $550,000 raised brings the to-date total to nearly $3 million.

During the golf outing, Kelsey Cline won the Built Ford Tough Shootout and a brand new Ford F-150 truck. The dinner, music and auction gathering saw several big ticket items drawing huge bids. A dinner party for 20 with Toby Keith earned not one bid of $32,500, but two. The Alaskan Adventure with Deadliest Catch star and boat captain Sig Hansen brought in $13,000 and a Costa Rica getaway to the Four Seasons drew a $19,000 bid.

TAYLOR'S COOL INTERVIEW IN GLAMOUR

One of Taylor Swift's most winning attributes is her candor and straightforward answers to probing questions.  The result, she explains to Glamour Magazine, is she can remain a regular person.

Taylor explains, "I’ve never felt like I needed to tone down being seen as a regular person. When I first started doing MySpace, I wrote my bio in the first person. I didn’t want my MySpace page to look like a publicity promo site, so I was the one doing all the commenting, and I was the one putting up pictures and videos. And I’ve approached my whole career like that—I don’t see that ever changing.

Glamour: A lot of people who reach a level of fame similar to yours become guarded.

TS: I get some paparazzi, but not enough to make me ever not appreciate what I have. It’s like, I wanted one thing [my] whole life…. I’m not going to get it and then complain about it.

 You have said, “Music is my boyfriend.” How do you date when you’re as famous as you are?

TS: I don’t date a lot. The other day I was in my dressing room with one of my closest friends, [American Idol alum] Kellie Pickler, who is also my opening act, and she said something really interesting to me: “We can only give someone what’s left over.” She does the same thing I do, so she knows what it’s like to do interviews all day and give your heart and soul on stage every night. After all of that is taken, we can only give someone what’s left. So it’s hard."

BLAKE SHELOTN IS AN AVID tweeter and comes off funny a quirky as always. Reba McEntire is also a fan of Twitter, and her husband just happens to be Blake Shelton’s manager, so she recently called Blake out in her own tweets.  

She said, "Do u think Blake Shelton Drunk Tweets? Read his Tweets! Sounds like it to me... I'm just sayin'..."  Later she posted a tweet that said, "To all my Tweebas! I told Blake to clean up his Tweets! My mama is reading them! Yes, he does spell better when he drinks..."  Blake responded to Reba with a tweet that said, "Just found out Reba's mom is following me. So... like I was saying, I'm about to have some kool-aid and watch cartoons..."

 Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men
who signed the Declaration of Independence ?

Five signers were captured by the British as traitors,
and tortured before they died.

Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.
Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army;
another had two sons captured.

Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or
hardships of the Revolutionary War.

They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes,
and their sacred honor.

What kind of men were they?

Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists.
Eleven were merchants,
nine were farmers and large plantation owners;
men of means, well educated,
but they signed the Declaration of Independence
knowing full well that the penalty would be death if
they were captured.
Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and
trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the
British Navy. He sold his home and properties to
pay his debts, and died in rags.

Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British
that he was forced to move his family almost constantly.
He served in the Congress without pay, and his family
was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him,
and poverty was his reward.

Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer, Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton.

At the battle of Yorktown , Thomas Nelson, Jr.., noted that
the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson
home for his headquarters. He quietly urged General
George Washington to open fire. The home was destroyed,
and Nelson died bankrupt.

Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed.
The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.

John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying.
Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill
were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests
and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his
children vanished.

It's a reminder of how much our founding citizens were willing to give up for the freedom we enjoy today.

June 30th, Verizon, in conjunction with Rhapsody, will feature an exclusive track from Taylor Swift as recorded on her FEARLESS 2009 Tour using Verizon’s mobile recording studio.  Taylor, with accompaniment from her band, The Agency, offer up their take on Tom Petty’s “American Girl”.  The track will be available for full-song download, ringtone download, ringback download via Verizon, and it will also be available on Rhapsody.  A video for the track, featuring exclusive footage captured on Taylor’s sold-out arena tour, accompanies the song on Verizon’s V-CAST platform and can be viewed beginning Tuesday 6/30 at www.vcastlive.com.  Also, in tour news, Taylor has sold-out two additional markets on her first headlining trek—Atlanta’s Gwinnett Center last weekend and a two-night engagement at Chicago’s Allstate Arena this weekend!

CRAIG MORGAN BUILDING A BONFIRE ON THE CHARTS

 
Craig Morgan has been heating up concert stages across the country this summer with his high-energy, hit-packed shows, high energy shows.
Now he's got to tend the flame of a song that's been heating up audiences calle, "Bone Fire."

“Bonfire” is a newly-written song Craig decided to test out in concert a couple of months ago, and the response to the song was intense and instantaneous. Craig soon added the song to his regular set list, and ultimately decided to give the fans what they want….he went into the studio and recorded the song.

“I love writing and singing about the simplest pleasures of life’s little things, and the fans always react to that. I think that’s why ‘Bonfire’ has struck such a chord with everybody,” says Craig of his latest hit. “Whether you’re camping, at the beach or just cooking out, bonfires lots of times are the highlights of a summer party. We’re just bringing a little bit of that party to life in this song!”

LUKE BRYAN VIDEO SET FOR AMAZON PREMIERE JUNE 29TH

Luke Bryan’s video for his current song “Do I" is premiering on Amazon Monday, June 29th.  Fans will not only be able to see the new video, but they’ll also be able to buy the single and preorder Luke’s upcoming Capitol Nashville album Doin’ My Thing – which is being released October 6th.  

The Shaun Silvia-directed video takes place in a downtown Nashville loft and has Luke showing off his acting skills. “I can’t wait for my fans to see my new video,” says Bryan.  “It’s different from anything I’ve done in the past but I think it really tells the story behind the song."

Personal note:  There's no better place to see Luke Bryan perform than live. If you haven't seen that yet, be sure to take advantage of the next opportunity to do so. Bryan is masterful, spontaneous and completely at home on stage interacting creatively with his great band and the audience while his, good ol' boy charm oozes from every pore of his body. RODNEY CARRINGTON’S EL NIÑO LOCO STRONG DEBUT- VIDEO FEATURES TOBY KEITH

Comedian Rodney Carrington’s new all-music album, El Niño Loco, debuted at #2 on Billboard’s Comedy chart this week - his seventh album to debut within the Top Ten of that chart - as well as at #19 in the trade publication’s Country chart and #76 on their Top 200.
 
The first video from El Niño Loco, “If I’m The Only One” – featured as an iTunes “Video of the Week” – highlights comedic performances from some familiar faces: actors Jennifer Aspen and Nick Searcy from Carrington’s popular ABC sitcom Rodney and superstar Toby Keith, one of El Niño Loco’s producers and co-writer on several of the album’s songs.
 
About the popular video, Carrington said “Seeing and working with everyone from the Rodney show again was great – and of course working with Toby Keith is always a lot of fun.”
 
“I always try to surround myself with talented people - to cover up the mistakes I make... that’s the secret of my success,” he added with a grin.

REBA TO ROLL OUT ‘COWBOY’ DANCE MIX: Reba performed a new song, “I Want A Cowboy”, from her upcoming album Keep On Loving You, during her recent show at Dallas, Texas’ new Cowboys Stadium.  Clearly the song was appropriate to debut at what is the new home of the Dallas Cowboys.  And now, a special version of that song will be launched next week to hundreds of country dance clubs in anticipation of Reba’s August 18th album release.  We asked the superstar what led her to record the song.  “I’m a huge fan of Katrina Elam—I love her singing and I loved her album she had out a few years back,” notes Reba.  “So I was listening to the album, and was talking to my producer Tony Brown, who had co-produced Katrina’s album a few years back, and asked him if there were any plans to do anything with the song ‘I Want A Cowboy’.  Tony called Katrina and asked her if she had any plans for the song, and she said ‘No, I don’t think so—why?’.  He told her I wanted to record it, and she thought that would be great.  So we immediately went into the studio and cut it!”

Fresh from performing a CMA songwriter showcase in The Big Apple, Jimmy says what makes New York so special to him.  “I travel all over America and NYC is one of my favorite places to visit because of the multicultural environment,” says the hitmaker.  “I love the shock factor as well.  You will see someone dancing on the street or the paparazzi chasing a celebrity. It's crazy.  And now, with the CMA annual songwriter event, you can even see a country music writers in-the-round at Joe's Pub!  How about that? The people are great. JUSTIN BACKS THAT THING UP—TO THE FLOOR


Justin Moore lives up to "the butt must go on," er, "the show must go on" when you bust your butt on stage as Justin did recently.
“I busted my ass, ironically, during my song ‘Back That Thing Up’,” recalls the rising star.  “All you can do in a moment like that is keep on going!”  And speaking of keeping on going, things are moving quite fast for Justin lately, thanks to his breakthrough single “Small Town USA” which just cracked the Top 20.  Justin can’t wait for his self-titled debut album to land in stores on August 11th.  He tells his fans in his MySpace blog: “I’m really proud of the writing and production on this album.  It will definitely give people a better idea of who I am after they hear it.”  Fans who can’t wait until August, can get a sneak peek of five tracks from the album on the just-released digital EP ‘The You Asked For It EP’, available now at iTunes.

4th OF JULY THE ESSENCE OF INGRAM’S ‘CRAZY’:
Come Independence Day, he’ll be sweating from the stage by the time fireworks explode, rather than doing what his hit song’s lyrics encourage, but that’s just fine by Jack Ingram.  Jack, whose latest single “Barefoot And Crazy” is his fastest-climbing yet, headlines the Whitewater At The Horseshoe 4th of July event in New Braunfels, TX next weekend, and for Jack, it is a chance to bring his summer anthem to the ultimate party.  “This song screams summertime while also providing a much-needed release for all the people who work hard all year long,” notes Jack.  “We’ll be rocking hard as we celebrate our country’s freedom this weekend.  And, you know to me, ‘Barefoot And Crazy’ is a song tailor-made for the 4th.  It offers pure stress relief for the people that make this country move, giving everyone a break from the grind.”  Throughout the summer Jack has felt immediate reaction from audiences to this song, a, “It’s pretty simple, really: the video is filled with real people letting loose and having a party, which is exactly what I see every night when I play it.  We had a blast capturing it on film.”  Jack’s new video will impact video networks in the coming weeks.

KATE & KACEY’S PERSPECTIVE ON LIFE FROM 30-THOUSAND FEET


Kate & Kacey continued their fast-paced radio tour this week, and for the twin sisters, they have grown accustomed to life from 30-thousand feet.  “I did the math, and in the next 2 weeks we will be on an airplane every single day except for 2 of them,” exclaims Kacey on the duo’s MySpace blog.  “Don't get me wrong, we both love our jobs, but sometimes we can't help but look back and think—‘WHERE has this year gone???’.  From filming their new music video for “Dreaming Love”, performing as part of Yahoo! Music’s ‘THE NEW NOW’ series, performing at CMA Music Fest, making their mark at the CMT Music Awards, and continuing their marathon radio tour, it is no wonder the girls feel like time has flown by this year!  But even given the hectic pace, Kate & Kacey never forget to remember the important things.  “The only things I really miss right now are the moments and holidays that Kate and I don't get to spend with our loved ones,” says Kacey.  “Take Father's Day for instance--we didn't get to go home and have a BBQ and hang out with the people we love.  And, you know, that’s what we sacrifice in exchange for getting to pursue our dreams—which is an opportunity we wouldn’t trade for anything.  It’s just, with the pace we are traveling, the time we have with family is all the more precious.”

KENNY CHESNEY TO HEADLINE NEW YORK STOP OF HARD ROCK’S
2009 AMBASSADORS OF ROCK TOUR IN TIMES SQUARE


ImageHard Rock International is bringing its worldwide Ambassadors of Rock Tour to New York!   And, Kenny Chesney, will perform at Hard Rock Cafe New York in Times Square on Tuesday, September 15th, as part of Hard Rock’s 2009 Ambassadors of Rock Tour, a global concert series featuring top artists and bands.

“Music that connects is music that rocks,” Chesney explained. “To me, the Hard Rock Ambassadors of Rock Tour is about the experience of music, of coming together, of how blinding it can be when it’s good… whether it’s Bruce Springsteen or Nine Inch Nails, Neil Young, the Killers or us. I’m honored to take part in this because that place where music and people come together to really let go, well, that’s what we’re all about.”

JACK INGRAM LINE TO REMEMBER

Jack Ingram closed the CMT Awards Kick-off party recently and, even though it was midnight, he delivered the perfect keep 'em there line, : “I know you don’t need written… permission… to have… a… good… time!”...
He then proceeded to make sure they did with his concert staple, "Mustang Burn" and a lot more hot Ingram stuff.

Ingram concluded,  “You know, you hit that stage… and it doesn’t matter what time, how late, how long or whatever’s happened,...It’s summer… It’s hot… and people are ready. You don’t leave people in that kind of state alone.”

JAMEY JOHNSON WORKING ON THE NEXT ONE

Jamey Johnson has already done a lot of recording, for his next album with about 40 songs completed that he will choose from.  He says he’s not in any hurry to get the second album out.  Jamey tells Billboard, "Our days of going in and knocking an album out in one day are probably done.  From now on we're probably going to keep going in and recording and keep material available. We'll go in and if we end up doing something special with that session then great, if not then, well, we did it. When we've got some cool stuff we can use, we'll take those and place 'em somewhere along the way. We're always looking for innovative ways to bring our songs to the people."  Jamey says the next album will be a continuation of the story he started with his first album, “That Lonesome Song,” but it will be about more of the things he’s experienced and gone through since he wrote the first album.

REBA PAYS TRIBUTE TO HER FANS:

ImageReba’s debut album for Valory will be titled Keep On Loving You, and the album’s cover is revealed in Reba’s artist section below.  Press reports have trickled out about Reba ‘stealing’ the song from Brooks & Dunn.  This begged two questions, why she recorded it, and also, why she chose to title the album after that song?  “When Tony Brown and I were in the studio recording, he had just finished some songs with Brooks & Dunn for their album,” recalls Reba.  “I asked Tony to hear some of the songs, and so he played them for me, and told me that there’s one song that they aren’t going to put on the record, and it was the song ‘Keep On Loving You’.  So I called up Ronnie and asked him what he planned to do with it and he said, ‘aw, I don’t know, maybe we’ll put it on the next record.’”  Reba continues: “So I said ‘why don’t you let me record it, ‘cause I’m not through with my album yet’.  He said ‘you’d record it?’ and I said ‘absolutely I would!  I think it’s a great song and a monster hit!’

TAYLOR STUFF INCLUDES TYING A RECORD

When Taylor Swift picked up her second Video of the Year award from CMT, she joined an elite club. The only other artists to own two Video of the Year Awards are Toby Keith and Keith Urban.

ALSO, with the momentum of her huge tour and her two big wins at the CMT Awards, it's not surprising she picked up FOUR Teen Choice nominations last week as well, Choice Music – Female Artist; Choice Music – Love Song (for “Love Story”); Choice Tour – The Fearless 2009 Tour; and Choice Music – Album by a Female Artist (for “Fearless”).

One other note, CMT CROSSROADS: TAYLOR SWIFT AND DEF LEPPARD, sold exclusively at Wal-Mart and Sam’s Clubs, arrived in stores now, and includes interviews and eleven electrifying performances, three of which have never been seen before.

FAITH SMELLING MONEY IN SMELLIN' GOOD

Faith Hill is the latest country star to create her own fragrance.  Faith unveiled her signature fragrance, “Faith Hill Parfums” on Thursday in New York.  Faith’s scent is said to “contain notes of magnolia, peony and crisp pear.”  She tells Women’s Wear Daily, “I’m pretty picky when it comes to fragrance — I don’t wear a lot of it, and I haven’t worn a lot in the past.  I wanted to be able to create this scent, to be involved with the lab, choosing the notes, and everything.” The perfume will start at $17 for a 1-oz. bottle when it launches in October.

Rumors have been swirling that LeAnn Rimes is seeking a divorce from her husband on the heels of a rumored affair with actor Eddie Cibrian, with whom she starred in the Lifetime movie, “Northern Lights.”  Rimes has remained silent such rumors, but decided to take this one on, responding through a spokesperson she states, “Contrary to any tabloid rumor, LeAnn is not seeking a divorce.”

JIMMY’S COFFEE CUP COLLECTION

Jimmy Wayne’s Twitter following is growing rapidly, and the hitmaker keeps the ‘tweets’ coming all day long!  Avid fans are well aware of his coffee cup collection, as Jimmy shares photos of new ones all the time.  We asked Jimmy how that collection came about, and where the most memorable mugs are from.  “My coffee cup collection is growing by the week,” notes Jimmy.  “I get mugs from fans every time I do a show.  They love to see their mug show up on Twitter.  I tweet every morning, telling them ‘good morning’ and I take a picture of my cup as if was having coffee together with them.  They respond the same.  It's very cool.  I recently got a 1982 ET coffee mug.  It's the coolest by far!”  To follow Jimmy on Twitter go to www.twitter.com/jimmywayne.

WHO SAYS YOU CAN’T GO HOME? NOT JUSTIN MOORE
 
Justin Moore is playing a homecoming show at The Village in Little Rock this week.  We asked the rising star what will be going through his mind as he steps on-stage in front of the people who have supported him the longest—the people he penned “Small Town USA” about.  “I love playin’ at home,” says Justin.  “This will be a 1000-seat venue in Little Rock.  It's cool that we can go sell that many tickets back home.  It's unbelievable to go back home to play cause not only do they sing the songs we’ve had on the radio, they also sing every other song we play.  It’s very emotional for me.”  Justin’s breakthrough single, “Small Town USA” continues its climb in the Top 20 this week.

Kate & Kacey have been getting Kenny Chesney fans revved up for the superstar’s Sun City Carnival stadium stops with a midday performance on the CORONA Tailgate Experience stage outside the gates.  And the twin sisters told us how exciting the experience has been.  “You know, last year we were sitting in the stands watching Kenny’s stadium show,” recalls Kate.  “So it is unfathomable to us that this year we are a part of it, in some small way.  Kenny’s fans are so great--and we count ourselves among them—and to be able to welcome them to the event and then get to watch the show from the stands with them, makes for the ultimate day!”

EXPECT CMA TO DELIVER GOOD NEWS ABOUT CMA FESTIVAL

As the final big show at the stadium began last night we asked the CMA how well the event did this year? They couldn’t go on the record about the final tally of tickets and attendance, but said they “don’t expect to be disappointed” by this year’s event.

That’s good news for the CMA who rightly may have thought that the economy might have precluded a success equal to past festivals. But, by the look of the numbers of people attending the outdoor shows, filling the sidewalks and crowding into the stadium shows all night, it looked like a big success.

Once again fans gathered from Paris, Texas Paris, France, from New England to England, and, as usual scrambling for autographs, buying souvenirs, drinking rivers of water, pop and beer and eating tons of food.

TAYLOR SWIFT WAS TREATED LIKE A SUPERSTAR

Taylor Swift was understandably in demand to be seen and heard by the fans yesterday…and was the big draw at the nightly stadium show. Taylor said she loves seeing young girls coming to her shows that “wear sun dresses and cowboy boots and curling their hair is one of my favorite experiences ever.”

We asked Taylor if having a career going 100 miles an hour was thrilling or scary? “This is just right for me,” she said. “I played Atlanta last night and we got in at 3am this morning, and then went straight to the convention center to sign autographs for 5 and a half hours and that’s the way I want to live my life.”

Between events for and with his fans, Jack Ingram set aside some studio time during the week to record a track for his upcoming new album. On the tune called “Barbie Doll,” he got a bunch of friends to sing with him on the session including, he says, “Dierks Bentley showed up, Little Big Town showed up, Lost Trailers showed up, James Otto showed up, Jed Hughes showed up, Randy Hauser showed up who I’m a huge fan of…just a bunch of my friends.”

KENNY CHESNEY RESPONDS TO DEATH OF BARRY BECKETT

Kenny Chesney has responded to the death of his first record producer in NashSomewhere tonight...   Someone listens to their favorite song.   Maybe on the radio...  Maybe on satellite....  Maybe on CD or vinyl ...   Odds are Barry Beckett is playing piano.   He produced my first two albums.   He taught me,  inspired me, made me reach for more.  He was one of the first to ever believe in a kid from Knoxville, Tennessee who used to sit out in the backyard in the middle of the night and stare at an open sky...  knowing that there was something more...  I loved him...    I will take Barry everywhere!   I always have and I always will.  He taught me to put a smile in everything.   That's important in life and especially to those of us who have music in our lives.  Who are consumed by it...  My life is consumed by it and Barry Beckett is to blame and I am forever grateful !!!!

A Personal Message From Shania

 Dear Friends,

I am so excited to be writing to you personally again after so long.

First I want to apologize for the delay in releasing new music.  Music is the basis of our relationship, after all, and I realize I'm not holding up very well on my end of the relationship!  But music has a mind of it's own, and is ruled by a writer's emotions and state of mind, not by a time frame or wishful thinking.  I wish like crazy that I had new music by now since I dream of how fun it would be to see you all again out on tour with new songs to sing, but as most of you know, I have been side-tracked slightly over this past year.


The personal issues that took place just over a year ago have been well documented, and there’s no need to go into more detail here.  Since then, I've been inspired by my pain to write and use writing as a therapy through the suffering.  I truly wouldn't wish this on anybody as a means to get inspired, but it's been a productive period with so much emotion trying to find it's way out.  However, there is no telling how long it will take me to actually finish these songs and record them so they can get out to you.

 
As many things as there have been to write about through this difficult time in my life, healing is serious business and has taken a lot of the wind out of my sails, slowing me down at times.  As you know, I am a mom and all my energy goes to making sure my little man is healthy and happy in every way.  This is a full time job, as any parent understands, but especially difficult when you are battling your own personal crisis at the same time while trying to spare your child of being affected by your own suffering.

 
One time when I was having a weak moment listening to some sad music and sobbing and slobbering over my computer’s keyboard, Eja walked up behind me and asked me why I was crying.  He wasn't sad at first--just totally surprised to see his mom crying (he is seven and never saw me cry before), and didn't know what to make of it.  During this intense period, I was managing to hide my devastation from Eja and cried only when I was alone; but this one time was just too hard for me to control and I broke down.   I was quick on my feet to answer him though and told Eja that music was very powerful and can make people quite emotional.  It can make you want to dance, feel angry, happy or sad and that THIS this song was sad and made me cry.  He accepted this, hugged me and went back to what he was doing.  Phew, that was tough!

 
The energy it has taken me to deal with my personal life and managing to still be a responsible parent has been challenging, and while I have been putting what energy I have left at the end of each day into my writing, it's been hard to put it all together into song format.

 
Please be patient and I will do my best to continue working on a finished album!

Each morning I put my son on the school bus, feed our two dogs Sony and Dolly, drink my orange juice and sit down at the computer to write.  I spend most of my time working with lyrics right now, sorting thoughts, expressions and concepts.  It often comes out in the form of poetry, diary notes or e-mails to friends.  My friends are great listeners and are very patient and generous about it.  I often go back to my e-mails for song ideas.  When I write in letter form, I don't hold back.  I just write it as it comes without considering format, topic, manners, etc.  Some of my best songwriting ideas are coming this way.

Time has a way of making everything right, and it is my hope that good music will eventually come out of it.  I say "good music” since I don't want to just throw anything at you, just for the sake of hurrying up to get it out.  I want my new music to be something I'm personally satisfied with and proud to share with you.

I have friends and family around constantly coaxing me to focus on my music.  "Your fans miss you. They want new music.  It's been too long."  They're all dying for something new too, so they are pretty relentless about it!  I know you certainly all do deserve new music and tour dates; not only because it's been so long, but also because of the HUGE support you've all given me during this period.  The many blogs and e-mails have warmed my heart, strengthened my confidence, given me courage, and have often even made me laugh out loud…in a good way!  I know I am not alone and realize through your support that you are all rooting for Eja and I, and our well-being.  Thank you!

The other day I started writing a few pages about being hungry as a kid.  Some of it was painful to think about but it also made me laugh at the funny times.  Reflecting on that period of my life, I realize how true it really is to learn to take the good with the bad. To appreciate that you can't have one without the other.  The trick is to give the "good" at least as much of your energy as the "bad" and not to get stuck focusing more on the "bad".  I decided to start writing about other stages of my life to help take my focus off the current phase I'm going through.  When I'm feeling down, I figured changing my focus to write about other periods of my PAST would help pull me out of the sadness and on to new chapters in my life.  It works.

I will sign off now but I look forward to my next letter/blog to you.  I just wanted to fill you in a bit on what's going on with me and music, as well as extend my thanks for all of the support that you have given me over this last year and for all these years; and to assure you that I'm fine and managing very well, in fact.  I'm enjoying my child, friends and family like I haven't in years, and it's great.  I've been experiencing and seeing new things every day, living life with a different and more optimistic attitude.  I've jumped out of an airplane at 10,000 feet, I'm riding Spanish and Arabian horses, traveling to exotic places, I've been deep sea diving for the first time!  I pull the odd all-nighter, read more books, listen to Eja's favourite music with him, LOUD [ironically his favourite  band is AC/DC] and basically I'm enjoying life.

Yesterday in a downtown Nashville Club Alan Jackson received an enormous plaque commerating all of his hit music after being introduced by label-mate Kix Brooks. The Occasion was to celebrate Jackson's 20 years of  continuous success and superstardom.

Jack Ingram returns to the studio with producer Jay Joyce to add a couple last minute tracks to Big Dreams & High Hopes, which is quickly becoming one of the=2 0most anticipated releases of the fall. Having already recorded with roots songwriting icon Radney Foster and mainstream powerhouse Jeremy Stover, as well as a “stirringly lovely duet” with singer/songwriter Patty Griffi n, the opportunity to work with the more rock-leaning Joyce spoke to a piece of Ingram that is as much a part of him as the #1 “Wherever You Are.

MAC McANALLY OPENS SUMMER SCHEDULE AT KENNEDY CENTER

One of music's most respected creators visits one of its
most hallowed stages as artist/songwriter/musician/ producer Mac McAnally plays the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC to honor wounded soldiers June 8.
The Launching Challenge America initiative, which also features Amy Grant and Vince Gill, is prelude to a full schedule of performances for McAnally stretching to year's end.

Mac's itinerary mixes solo performances focused on his new Show
Dog/Nashville music, including the well-received new single "You First," with huge arena shows in his role as a longtime member of Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer band. Already, McAnally has more than 25 shows on the books through November, with more to be added soon.

Following his first No. 1 as a recording artist and sixth as a songwriter – "Down The Road" with Kenny Chesney – McAnally signed to Toby Keith's Show Dog label and began work on another album of original material. "You First," his first single for the label, offers poignant examples of love in McAnally's direct yet profound simplicity of style.


Mac was named 2008 Musician of the Year by the Country Music Association, the same year he was inducted into the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame. He is also a 2007 inductee to the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
McAnally signed his first record deal at the age of 16 and was the first artist signed to the legendary Geffen Records.

Los Angeles has had a couple of minor earthquakes lately, but there was a man-made tremor last night at L.A.'s The Mint nightclub coming from a rocking set by James Otto and his kickass, five-man band.

James' music is as imposing as his physical presence and as gentle as his songwriter's soul as he tore into a tight set of  cool tunes including "Ain't Gonna Stop," "Good Ol' Days," "Since You Brought it up," "In Color" and more, including his career-breakout, smash #1 song of the Year, "Just Got Started Loving You."

One of Nashville’s brightest new groups, Gloriana, is set to release their much anticipated self-titled debut album on Emblem Music Group/Warner Bros. Records on Tuesday, August 4th. The 13-track album was produced by Grammy Award winner and Emblem Music Group label owner Matt Serletic (Rob Thomas, Willie Nelson, and Aerosmith). The album includes their Top 20 hit single “Wild At Heart,” which is the best selling single from a new country act in 2009. This week the single landed at #98 on the Top 200 Digital Singles Chart having sold nearly 100,000 copies of the single to date.

The foursome has already created quite a stir over the last several months opening for Taylor Swift on her “Fearless 2009 Tour.”  They’ve also celebrated a Top 5 debut on the iTunes Country Album chart for their four-song digital collection The Way It Goes and their debut music video for “Wild At Heart” can be seen on both CMT and GAC.
