CHECKIN’ IN WITH THE TOP TEN
GARY ALLAN'S NEW LIVING HARD ALBUM IS 'REFLECTIVE' AND IN STORES NOW Gary Allan's new album Living Hard has a lot of Gary in it. He co-wrote six of the cuts, and one of them, "We Touched The Sun," originated in a Costa Rican jungle. “I went to Costa Rica with Jim Lauderdale and Odie Blackman and we actually rented a house in a jungle. It was really cool. Got woke up by baboons every day and people had to carry our stuff across a creek. You couldn’t even get to where we were by car. And we just wanted to go someplace where nobody would bother us and we just sat and wrote for a week and it was great. It was like nothing I’d ever done. We had an absolute blast.” ALSO, Gary told us that musical rumble in the jungle contributed to an album that is reflective of changes in his recent past. "It's a lot of reflection, some of the songs I wrote, you know, on my past and a lot of it's reflecting change. Just how you have to cope with what happens to you. I got one on there called "Learning How to Bend" trying, you know, just learning how to fit in life." (IQ Audio attached :20)

SPEAKING OF SATURDAY'S OPRY SHOW....BRAD PAISLEY WRITES AND RECORDS NEW THEME FOR OPRY LIVE ON GAC Opry member Brad Paisley has written and recorded a new theme song for OPRY LIVE on Great American Country television network. Paisley named the theme “From Uncle Jimmy to Justin,” referencing Uncle Jimmy Thompson, who played fiddle on the 1925 inaugural broadcast of what would become the Grand Ole Opry, and Paisley’s fiddle player Justin Williamson. “The Drama Kings and I went into the studio last week with the daunting task of coming up with music that encompasses the many generations and styles that are the Grand Ole Opry,” says Paisley. “I like what we came up with and I hope the fans out there do, too. I’m very proud to be a part of this and, yes, the Drama Kings is our newly adopted band name.” The theme song makes its debut this Saturday night as the Opry welcomes its newest member, platinum-selling Josh Turner. ASHTON SHEPERD's new single, “Takin’ Off This Pain” IS Ashton has written over 200 songs and discusses writing the new single: “Basically, I was sitting on my couch, I come up with the first line, 'I’ve got a cold beer in my right hand, and in my left I’ve got my wedding band' and I’m sitting there playing and the other words were just coming as I was playing. When I wrote that first chorus, I knew where I wanted the song to go and I was like, well here’s this song that’s gonna be sexy and about somebody getting aggravated and wanting to leave whether it’s a guy or a girl and I just put myself in that position and going off of what I know I have felt like before and what others felt like and tried to make it relatable.”

The event, which takes place in the Museum’s Ford Theater, will include an in-depth interview with Stiff, supplemented with photos, film footage and audio recordings culled from the Museum's collection. A reception will follow the program. Admission is free. Louise Scruggs’ understanding of music and musical trends, coupled with her formidable business acumen, allowed her to steer her husband Earl Scruggs’ career in the direction of ever-widening audiences. In 1955, she began booking and managing the Flatt & Scruggs show and continued to guide her husband’s career until her passing in February 2006. She was the first woman in country music to assume these roles, and she set new standards for the industry.
