BILLY RAY CYRUS TO BE IN NASHVILLE CRS WEEK

ImageBilly Ray will be in Nashville next week meeting the press and talking about his new album BACK TO TENNESSEE and the title-tune first single. The title track is one of two self-penned cuts in the album including "Country as Country Can Be."

ALSO, Billy Ray Cyrus proves once again that he loves Tennessee and wants to bring as much work there as possible instead of traveling away from the state to do major projects like films. You might recall that Billy Ray gave up his starring role in the drama, "Doc" that was shot in Canada, when the production refused to move filming of the show to Tennessee. The result is that  Hanna Montana The Movie was shot in Tennessee thanks to Billy Ray's efforts to bring it there. The movie that also includes Billy Ray's son, Trace, will be released to theaters April 10, 2009.

TOBY KEITH GOLFING FOR A CAUSE AT 6TH ANNUAL CLASSIC

Image
Countryforever.com
For the sixth straight year, Toby Keith pledged his support
for Oklahoma children with cancer by setting June 12th and 13th as the dates
for his 2009 Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic benefiting Ally's House. To
date, the annual event has raised more than $2.3 million for the
organization Keith helped establish that assists pediatric cancer patients
and their families throughout the state.

In a year predicted to be tough for charity events, Keith strongly
reaffirmed his support of the cause.

"I will always be committed to these kids," Keith said. "More of them are
diagnosed all the time and they need our help now like never before."

The two-day affair is a combination of a "Denim and Diamonds" Friday night
party and Saturday golf.

Toby Keith and his foundation have been unwavering in their support of
Ally's House, which is named for Allison Webb, daughter of Keith's friend
and original bandmate Scott Webb. Ally died of cancer in August of 2003, one
month short of her third birthday.

Since the organization began its mission in 2004, Ally's House has helped
the families of nearly 300 children during their cancer treatments.

TAYLOR SWIFT MEETS UP WITH GIRLS WHO ONCE DISSED HER

Taylor Swift never forgot the girls that made fun of her in Junior High school, who later showed up to get her autograph.

Taylor is on the cover of Teen Vogue and told the zine, "The kids at school thought it was weird that I liked country -- they'd make fun of me," admits the 19-year-old. Junior high was actually sort of hard,  she says, ..."because I got dumped by this group of popular girls. They didn't think I was cool or pretty enough, so they stopped talking to me."

Fortunately, when Swift was in the ninth grade she signed a song-writing deal and moved to Nashville, Tennesee. So did she ever see those mean girls again?

"I actually did!" she exclaims. "I played a hometown show about a year into my career, and they showed up, wearing my t-shirts and asking me to sign their CDS. It was bittersweet because it made me realize that they didn't remember being mean to me and that I needed to forget about it, too. And really, if I hadn't come home from school miserable every day, maybe I wouldn't have beem so motivated to write songs. I should probably be thanking them!"

BRAD PAISLEY SAYS AWARDS ARE MADE SWEETER BY THE PEOPLE HE LOVES

BRAD PAISLEY SAYS AWARDS ARE MADE SWEETER BY THE PEOPLE HE LOVES

Brad Paisley was asked recently how the thrill of winning awards compares to having a wife and child? Brad said that he couldn’t compare the two, but having a family makes winning stuff even better.

Image
Countryforever.com

“With the first few awards I won I was a single guy it’s a little more hollow than when you finally find that right person, and you marry and you celebrate awards together. And then you have a son like I have and you win awards you start to

think of him as far as your legacy goes… and he’s 21 months old and he’s not going to know what to think of me yet and with things like this I’ll get away with seeming cooler than I am,” Brad explains.

JAMEY JOHNSON CLEARS UP WHERE HE’S FROM

Jamey Johnson says it’s often reported that he grew up in Enterprise, Alabama, but he cleared up some confusion when he tells people he was raised in Montgomery, Alabama.

Jamey explains, “I was born in Enterprise, Alabama, but I’ve never lived in Enterprise. My family lived in Troy, Alabama which is right up the road from Enterprise. But the Troy hospital didn’t deliver babies in 1975, they didn’t have the facilities for it so you had to go to Montgomery or Enterprise to get born.”

In fact Jamey says he might have been born in the back of a car if his father didn’t have a lead foot.

“My daddy had a ’68 Firebird, and a real heavy right foot, so I got to be born in a hospital instead of the back seat of a ’68 Firebird,” Jamey chuckles.

But, we moved to Montgomery when I was three so that’s really the only hometown I remember.”

CARRIE UNDERWOOD

IN CASE you wondered what Carrie Underwood had on when she party hopped at the Academy Awards, here’s the lowdown: Carrie had on a white beaded one-shoulder Georges Chakra cocktail frock, matching Stuart Weitzman heels, Mary Norton clutch, Chopard jewels and bouffant updo for Elton John's annual Oscar party in West Hollywood.

ALSO, Carrie appears in the March edition of Vanity Fair in a three page add for Vitamin Water health drink.

TOBY KEITH SCORES 25TH #1 SINGLE WITH "GOD LOVE HER" ACROSS THE BOARD

Image

Toby Keith has the No. 1 song in the land as "God Love Her" tops both the Billboard/R&R and Country Aircheck/Mediabase/USA Today country charts. The second single from Keith's acclaimed That Don't Make Me A Bad Guy album has already spent four weeks atop the Music Row chart. And earning all three major chart "belts" gives Toby the undisputed 25th No. 1 single of his career.

ALSO,

TOBY IS A ONE-MAN FORD STIMULOUS PACKAGE

In a time when more than a few performers are losing their lucrative tour sponsorships to the sagging economy, Toby Keith’s tour sponsor, Ford’s F-150 trucks, has made sure Toby continued his relationship with them .

 Image

“We’re going to be with Ford until don’t want us anymore,” says Toby. “Ford’s been wonderful to us, while all the other car sponsorships have been canning their celebrities…there’s been a lot of big name artists that have lost their deals this year…but Ford said, no, you’re a part of our Ford 150 thing because we sold, our first year with them 1.5 million trucks which was the most they’d ever sold said the F-150 guy, so they’ve been really good to me,” Toby adds.

MILEY CYRUS RELEASES “THE CLIMB”

Miley Cyrus released her new country single “The Climb” to country radio yesterday. It marks the second of two amazing vocal performances from Cyrus, recently, including her duet with Taylor Swift that brought down the house at the Grammy Awards. The song has a good message, and Miley’s effective, skillful delivery of the tune continue to prove that she’s not merely a chip off the ol’ block, rather she’s a whole new climbing tree that’s branched off and bearing fruit. She hat her feet in multiple worlds, TV, pop music and country..you get the sense that country is where she belongs. (Music comments reflect Haislop’s personal opinion).

BROOKS & DUNN COMPETE WITH OSCAR

ImageBrooks & Dunn proved last night that not everybody in Hollywood was at the Oscars or watching the Academy Awards on TV, as they tore it up to a big crowd that took in their show at L.A.’s Gibson Amphitheater. Kix and Ronnie kicked the night off with a raucous rendition of “Can’t Take the Honky Tonk Out of The Girl,” and then settled in to a night of nothing but greatest hits from a career that has now stretched into their 18th year of non-stop superstardom, the dominant duo for nearly two decades.

REBA McENTIRE WAS BACKTAGE AT KIX & RONNIE’S PARTYstanding in the wings backstage was Brooks&Dunn’s great friend Reba McEntire who loved visiting with her former opening act-duet partners-tour-mates.

JASON MICHAEL CARROLL delivered the audience to Brooks & Dunn…

Jason Michael looked and sounded great, sporting a hairdo that is now half as long as the last time you might have seen him. He’s sounding great singing “Living Our Love Song,” and later the title song from his upcoming, April release of his new album “Growing Up is Gettin’ Old.”

GLORIANA WAS THE FIRST OPENER FOR KIX & RONNIE

Image
Countryforever.com
Gloriana, the four member group featuring two ladies and two guys, was impressive with strong original music and the great harmonies that came from the four former lead singers throwing in together to make something very fresh-sounding. They are Rachel Reinert, Cheyenne Kimball, and brothers Tom and Mike Gossin.

SPEAKING OF REBA…SHE HOOKS UP WITH STRAIT FOR SPECIAL EVENT

Image

Reba McEntire will be performing for the first time ever with George Strait at a special concert celebrating the grand opening of the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium on June 6th. George noted: "Our paths have passed many times at many different places, but the opportunity to do a show together like this has never presented itself.  It's something I've looked forward to for a long, long time."

This will certainly be a dream come true for many fans, but it’s truly special to Reba. “George and I always seemed to have parallel paths just because we came out around the same time, and we were on the same label for years,” recalls Reba.  “I appreciate that it is special for the fans to see us on the same show, and that makes me want to put on a great show.  Plus, being a Cowboys fan for so long, I’m thrilled to be a part of the new grand opening.  I can’t wait!” Another thing fans will surely be excited about is new music from Reba…the lead single from her Valory debut album is on deck for April.

TAYLOR SWIFT ON VERGE OF SELF-COMBUSTION

Image
Courtesy Big Machine Records
If Taylor Swift gets any hotter she’s likely to self-combust. She’s made history last week by going #1 Pop with “Love Story,” she’s been at the top of the Billboard All-genre Top 200 chart for 9 weeks and, if that weren’t hot enough, or cool enough, she’s made the Cover of Rolling Stone, something that left her almost speechless except for repeating “Oh, my God, I’m on the Cover of Rolling Stone” as she unwrapped the mounted cover of the issue when it was delivered to her home.

ALSO, “White Horse” became the first video ever to debut at #1 on the CMT Top 20 chart.

JIMMY WAYNE’s VIDEO OF “I WILL” IS IN CMT’s TOP 10

Jimmy Wayne’s video for “I Will” was one of the Top 10 Most Streamed clips this week on CMT.com!  The idea of finding ones soul mate and doing anything and going anywhere to keep that person is presented via a very passionate storyline in the video.  We asked Jimmy to comment on the impact of the video as well as the message conveyed in the song.  “The video for ‘I Will’ expresses the love and strength that two people have for one another,” says Jimmy.

EMERSON DRIVE OWNS #2 ON GAC’S TOP 20

Emerson Drive’s “Belongs To You” logs its third consecutive week at #2 on GAC’s Top 20 Countdown!  We asked lead singer Brad Mates about the importance of the steadfast support from the band’s fans who vaulted the video up the fan-voted tally.  “It’s an incredible feeling to see this video do so well!” says Brad.  “Our fans have been there for us for the past ten years.  Without them, we wouldn’t get to play the shows or make the albums, so a big thank you goes out to them!  It really all does belong to you.”

KELLIE PICKLER SET TO FILM “BEST DAYS OF YOUR LIFE” VIDEO

Image
Countryforever.com
Kellie Pickler tune proves that it’s not good to dump on hit singer-songwriters. What started out as Kellie ranting about an ex-boyfriend to her pal, Taylor Swift, turned into a therapeutic songwriting session that produced “Best Days Of Your Life,” the second single from Kellie Pickler’s self-titled sophomore album. Now climbing the country charts, “Best Days Of Your Life” will come to life on the silver screen as the music video is set to film in Nashville next week.

“After we wrote the song, Taylor and I talked about what a fun, visual video this would make and the scenes that follow the storyline are very funny.” Kellie added, “This song is about one particular guy but I’m dedicating the music video to all you bad boys out there and you know who you are,” she laughed.

DID YOU KNOW THIS ABOUT TOBY KEITH?

Did you know that Toby Keith’s son is going to be as big or bigger than dad?

Toby Keith tells us that his TK Steel Man line of clothing was a nod to his son, Steelen, who looks like he’s going to be as big as his dad. “ “He’s coming along fine,” says Toby, “He’s only 11 and will soon fit into some of my new clothing line, because he’s tall, and already wearing a size 10 shoe!”
