JEFF COOK OF COUNTRY SUPER GROUP ALABAMA TO APPEAR ON THE DAILY BUZZ THIS WEEKEND


Jeff Cook, of Country Music Hall of Famers Alabama, will make a musical appearance on the nationally syndicated television show The Daily Buzz this weekend.

Cook, now with his Allstar Goodtime Band, will be in Orlando, Florida this Friday morning to wake up America with a live performance of his current single and the title track from his latest solo-release, “Ashes Won’t Burn.”

 

 

 


OAK RODGE BOYS TO CBS EARLY SHOW, FOX NET AND MORE

Viewers will have several chances to tune in and see beloved country-crossover group The Oak Ridge Boys on television in July. The band will be out and about promoting their new Spring Hill Records album The Boys Are Back which hit stores May 19th.
 
Kicking off their appearances will bring the Oak Ridge Boys to the Game Show Network during Game Show Live on Thursday, July 16th.  The Oaks will join the show via Skype to help a lucky contestant win prizes while promoting their new album.  The next morning will bring the Oaks to deliver a powerful performance as part of the Fox & Friends Summer Concert Series, soon followed by radio appearances.  The Oaks will, once again, see the sunrise as they perform on the CBS Early Show on Saturday, July 19th, before heading to a concert appearance in New Jersey later that night.
 
The following week on July 23rd, The Oak Ridge Boys will appear on the nationally syndicated mid-day show Better TV.  Other appearances include SiriusXM , FoxNews.com, Fox Entertainment Feed, and United Stations radio.

 HALFWAY TO HAZARD TEAMS WITH BIGGER PICTURE

Bigger Picture Entertainment has teamed up with country duo Halfway to Hazard to provide radio promotion and marketing for the band’s yet-to-be named sophomore album due out third quarter 2009 on StyleSonic/Picnic Hill Records, Tim McGraw and Byron Gallimore's record label.  The project’s first single, “I Know Where Heaven Is,” officially begins impacting radio on July 20 but is already garnering early spins on several radio stations including WQYK-FM in Tampa.
 
Essential Broadcast Media and Jim Havey PR are collaborating to handle Halfway to Hazard’s publicity, and William Morris Endeavor continues to serve as the band’s booking agency.  The duo, Kentucky-born Chad Warrix and David Tolliver, are managed by Christopher Washko of Fundamental Management.

TANYA TUCKER HITS THE “BIG APPLE” TO PROMOTE NEW ALBUM

Tanya Tucker arrives in New York City TODAY to promote her just released Saguaro Road Records (Time Life) CD, MY TURN.   Appearances will include NBC’s BETTER TV, several programs on Fox News and Fox Business Channel, a special appearance on GSN - the Game Show Network, as well as Associated Press Television.

NYC Profiles also plans to interview Tucker, whom Chuck Arnold of People Magazine recently dubbed “the Taylor Swift of her day.”

NEW SINGLE FROM MICHELLE TURLEY


Hard Times" is  the title of Michelle Turley's debut single but radio is finding it an easy listen as over 109 radio stations have added the song.   "Hard Times" gives a little whimsical twist to some of the real pinch many are eHer voice has been described as  part Emmylou Harris and part Paulette Carlson, Michelle sings, "We've been livin through some Hard Times, My back is breakin just to make a little livin, I gotta crummy ole job and it doesn't pay much, Uncle Sam is taken what I'm givin." The lyrics stop short of the classic Johnny Paycheck anthem. "Take This Job."
 

 

 

 

START A BAND #1 PARTY

Monday, June 13th, ASCAP will host the number one party at ASCAP's Nashville offices for "Start a Band," the Brad Paisley/Keith Urban smash. Writers Kelley Lovelace and Ashley Gorley will be on hand to celebrate their collaboration.

CARRIE'S CARNIVAL RIDE BEARS PLATINUM AND GOLD DIGI FRUIT


ImageCarrie Underwood will release a new album on November 3rd...which she can only hope does half the business she's done with Carnival Ride, especially in the digital market place.

With the recent platinum digital certification of “All-American Girl” and gold digital certification of “Just A Dream,” all 5 of Underwood’s singles from the nearly triple-platinum Carnival Ride have been certified gold or platinum for digital downloads.
 
Earlier this year, Underwood became the first country artist in history and the only American Idol winner to achieve 10 #1 singles from their first two albums. She is currently in the studio working on her new album with producer Mark Bright.
 

 

 

 

 

RASCAL FLATTS HELP WAKE UP AMERICA TOMORROW ON "TODAY"

Catch Rascal Flatts on NBC’s Today Show tomorrow.  The guys will perform their current single, “Summer Nights,” as well as a couple of their biggest hits for the show’s “Summer Concert Series.”  Tomorrow just happens to be Gary LeVox’s birthday, but he won’t have much time to hang around New York City to celebrate because Rascal Flatts has a concert Saturday night on the other side of New York in Darien Lake.

 

 

 

KEITH URBAN HAS BECOME AN "APPLICATION"
 
ImageHere comes an application I plan to ad to my iPhone.  Keith has teamed up with Zannel to create an application for iPhones and iPod Touches called “Keith Urban’s VIP Pass”.  The app gives fans exclusive behind-the-scenes videos, pictures and updates delivered right to their iPhone or iPod.  Keith is excited about the new way to connect with his fans because he says, “There is nothing like the live concert experience to connect with people, but the idea that we can stay connected, whether before or after our show has hit town, is really extraordinary.”
 

 

 

 

TAYLOR SWIFT MAKES FORBES' BEST PAID STARS UNDER 30 LIST

Forbes magazine has come out with their list of The Best Paid Celebs Under 30, and Taylor Swift earned enough to make the list, along with other young celebrities such as The Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Beyonce, who tops the list with earnings of $87 million in the last year.  At just 19 years old Taylor earned $18 million in the last year through album sales, touring and endorsements.

 

 

 

JOSH TURNER KICKS OFF NSAI’S “IT ALL BEGINS WITH A SONG” PERFORMANCE SERIES"

Josh Turner takes the stage for the premiere of NSAI’s “IT ALL BEGINS WITH A SONG” Performance Series on Wednesday, July 22nd at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville.

ROANOKE FOLK "GET CRAZY" WITH BILLY CURRINGTON POST CONCERT PARTY

Billy Currington made a surprise visit to Corned Beef and Co. to play an additional set for Roanoke, Virginia fans following his opening gig on Sugarland's "Love On The Inside" tour stop Friday, June 26 at the local Civic Center. Star Country 94.9/WSLC helped promote the post-concert party that drew out a crowd that lined up for blocks and maxed out the venue where Currington entertained for over an hour.

Catch Currington on GAC's Top 20 Countdown Friday, July 10 at 7 and 11pmCT as he helps host Nan Kelley countdown the fans' favorite videos. The fans have spoken and the "People Are Crazy" video nears the #1 spot this week, and holds strong at #4 on the radio charts.

 

 


 
COUNTRY MUSIC THE  SOUNDTRACK OF NEW UNI STUDIOS ROLLER COASTER RIDE


Universal Studios Hollywood has a new roller coaster called the Rip Ride Rockit which will give you a chance to customize your ride by choosing your own soundtrack while you ride.  When you get in your seat you can choose from a selection of songs from country, pop, rap, metal or club tunes, and only you will be able to hear the song you choose.  The country selections available on the ride include "All Night Long," Montgomery Gentry; "Guitars, Cadillacs," Dwight Yoakam; "I Can Sleep When I'm Dead" Jason Michael Carroll; "Living in Fast Forward," Kenny Chesney; "Midnight Rider," The Allman Brothers; or "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," The Charlie Daniels Band.  The ride is set to open this summer at Universal Studios Hollywood.

 

 

JASON MICHAEL CARROLL FOR FREE
 
Jason Michael Carroll will perform a FREE CONCERT at Harley Davidson's New Outdoor Event Center in Columbia, TN on Sunday, July 12 at 2pm. Also performing will be country group Carter's Chord and singer, Jeff Allen.
 
Carroll latest single is "Hurry Home," the second single from his new album on Arista Records Nashville titled, Growing Up Is Getting Old.

 

 

 PATTY LOVELESS TO RELEASE SEQUEL TO ACCLAIMED MOUNTAIN SOUL CD

ImageFans of roots music have asked Patty Loveless for years to reprise the Appalachian sound of her 2001 Mountain Soul CD, and now she has.    
 
Saguaro Road Records will issue Mountain Soul II on September 29. Like its predecessor, the album will feature Patty's crystalline country vocals amid bluegrass-tinged instrumentation.    
 
"It's Appalachian, bluegrass and country combined," says Patty of her upcoming collection's sound. "You should never try to duplicate something like Mountain Soul. What you should do is enhance. So this is like a continuation."

 

 

 

LOVE AND THEFT SHOOT MUSIC VIDEO FOR HIT SINGLE, “RUNAWAY”

Just days before the 4th of July holiday, Love And Theft’s Brian Bandas, Eric Gunderson and Stephen Barker Liles spent the day in Memphis, Tenneessee filming the music video for their debut hit single, “Runaway.” Directed by Kristin Barlowe, the video was shot at an abandoned brewery in Memphis. The “Runaway” video story line follows Love And Theft as they make a fast paced getaway from the existence that leaves them feeling trapped.


The shoot wasn’t without its challenges – Love And Theft member Stephen Barker Liles played his part despite being sick all day from a bout of food poisoning. Also, the engine in the 1971 Mustang Mach 1 featured in the video had to be rebuilt the morning of the video shoot. The car’s power steering later failed during filming with Love And Theft member Brian Bandas behind the wheel. Despite the setbacks, Love And Theft and Kristin Barlowe teamed up to make a high energy video for the band’s first single.

The video for “Runaway” can be seen on TV and online in the coming weeks in advance of the band’s CD launch on August 25th.
After opening shows for Taylor Swift in 2008, Love And Theft is currently on the road meeting country radio and promoting their debut single, “Runaway.” The band’s debut CD, World Wide Open, will release August 25th. Toby Keith's new single is being promoted with phrase, "Spin it Now or Fits Gonna Hit The Shan!", but no scrambled letters were needed, "American Ride," will have a fast ride to the top.

MEANWHILE TOBY GIVES BACK TO THE TUNE OF OVER HALF A MILLION

Toby Keith's sixth annual golf and music fundraising weekend
to benefit Ally's House raised more than half-a-million dollars to help children with cancer and their families in Keith's native Oklahoma. The $550,000 raised brings the to-date total to nearly $3 million.

During the golf outing, Kelsey Cline won the Built Ford Tough Shootout and a brand new Ford F-150 truck. The dinner, music and auction gathering saw several big ticket items drawing huge bids. A dinner party for 20 with Toby Keith earned not one bid of $32,500, but two. The Alaskan Adventure with Deadliest Catch star and boat captain Sig Hansen brought in $13,000 and a Costa Rica getaway to the Four Seasons drew a $19,000 bid.

TAYLOR'S COOL INTERVIEW IN GLAMOUR

One of Taylor Swift's most winning attributes is her candor and straightforward answers to probing questions.  The result, she explains to Glamour Magazine, is she can remain a regular person.

Taylor explains, "I’ve never felt like I needed to tone down being seen as a regular person. When I first started doing MySpace, I wrote my bio in the first person. I didn’t want my MySpace page to look like a publicity promo site, so I was the one doing all the commenting, and I was the one putting up pictures and videos. And I’ve approached my whole career like that—I don’t see that ever changing.

Glamour: A lot of people who reach a level of fame similar to yours become guarded.

TS: I get some paparazzi, but not enough to make me ever not appreciate what I have. It’s like, I wanted one thing [my] whole life…. I’m not going to get it and then complain about it.

 You have said, “Music is my boyfriend.” How do you date when you’re as famous as you are?

TS: I don’t date a lot. The other day I was in my dressing room with one of my closest friends, [American Idol alum] Kellie Pickler, who is also my opening act, and she said something really interesting to me: “We can only give someone what’s left over.” She does the same thing I do, so she knows what it’s like to do interviews all day and give your heart and soul on stage every night. After all of that is taken, we can only give someone what’s left. So it’s hard."

BLAKE SHELOTN IS AN AVID tweeter and comes off funny a quirky as always. Reba McEntire is also a fan of Twitter, and her husband just happens to be Blake Shelton’s manager, so she recently called Blake out in her own tweets.  

She said, "Do u think Blake Shelton Drunk Tweets? Read his Tweets! Sounds like it to me... I'm just sayin'..."  Later she posted a tweet that said, "To all my Tweebas! I told Blake to clean up his Tweets! My mama is reading them! Yes, he does spell better when he drinks..."  Blake responded to Reba with a tweet that said, "Just found out Reba's mom is following me. So... like I was saying, I'm about to have some kool-aid and watch cartoons..."

JOE NICHOLS MAKING BELIEVERS

While Joe Nichols is making believers among the Broadway set as he works on his lead role as "Dusty" in the Broadway adaptation of "Pure Country" slated to go up on stage in 2010, he continues to make believers at radio with "Believers" as it charges up the charts.

ASTONISHING JULY 4TH HISTORY WE BET YOU NEVER KNEW

Our friend Cathy Gurley shared this amazing bit of history that puts the meaning of patriotism for out founding fathers into a whole new perspective.

 Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men
who signed the Declaration of Independence ?

Five signers were captured by the British as traitors,
and tortured before they died.

Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.
Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army;
another had two sons captured.

Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or
hardships of the Revolutionary War.

They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes,
and their sacred honor.

What kind of men were they?

Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists.
Eleven were merchants,
nine were farmers and large plantation owners;
men of means, well educated,
but they signed the Declaration of Independence
knowing full well that the penalty would be death if
they were captured.
Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and
trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the
British Navy. He sold his home and properties to
pay his debts, and died in rags.

Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British
that he was forced to move his family almost constantly.
He served in the Congress without pay, and his family
was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him,
and poverty was his reward.

Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer, Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton.

At the battle of Yorktown , Thomas Nelson, Jr.., noted that
the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson
home for his headquarters. He quietly urged General
George Washington to open fire. The home was destroyed,
and Nelson died bankrupt.

Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed.
The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.

John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying.
Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill
were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests
and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his
children vanished.

It's a reminder of how much our founding citizens were willing to give up for the freedom we enjoy today.
