CHESNEY BURNS IT DOWN IN VEGAS

When Kenny Chesney said he wasn't dong a big stadium tour this year, he also said that didn't mean he would not be doing the thing he loves best, singing for the people.

Kenny did that by hitting Las Vegas this weekend and he rocked the strip.

“You know, when people thought I could go a whole year without playing live, I wondered who they were talking about,” Chesney laughed. “Certainly not me. I love making music, especially making music for people, too much! There was no way… I needed to get my foot off the gas, but that didn't mean I wanted to cut off the thing that makes me happiest.”

Mixing a few large festival plays - to reach the most fans possible - with a two weekend stand at The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino's storied The Joint, Chesney was able to scratch an itch that is the essence of his unbridled Keg in the Closet shows that are famed for their on'n'on bottomless energy.

Broadcasting live on No Shoes Radio (www.noshoesradio.com) the first night, Chesney's   freewheeling set was the essence of Keg in the Closet: obscure older songs, rock, alternative and country covers and all the hits that the fans want to hear. Clocking in at 2 _ hours, it was the best of the traditional shows fans have come to expect and the ragtag Keggers that are as much about the music that influenced the man as is own hits.

“We blew it up Friday night,” admits the 4-time Country Music Association and 4-consecutive Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year. “We knew we were broadcasting on No Shoes Radio and that the Hard Rock was matching donations at the door, so we were going for it… and the fans were loving it, so why stop playing?”

REBA PAYS TRIBUTE TO PALS BROOKS & DUNN ON CBS-TV SPECIAL

Reba is part of the upcoming CBS-TV special honoring Brooks & Dunn, and not only did the superstar come out and do a killer version of “Indian Summer”, she also took part in another surprise moment.  We asked Reba why she chose “Indian Summer” and also, given her vantage point, what she feels Brooks & Dunn have brought to the format through the years.  “I chose ‘Indian Summer’ because I loved that song the first time I heard it on the radio.  I love Ronnie’s vocal on it, the melody and the story aspect of it.   You know I’ve always been a sucker for a story song,” Reba notes.

Brooks & Dunn and Reba will perform a special duet on the LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN, Friday, May 21 on the CBS Television Network.  The duo will perform one of their classics, "Cowgirls Don't Cry," with Reba on the broadcast.  Their LATE SHOW performance with Reba comes just days before the premiere of the all-star tribute concert special, ACM Presents: Brooks & Dunn – The Last Rodeo, which will be broadcast on CBS, Sunday, May 23 (8:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT).

FOLLOWING THIS WEEK’S TOP 5 SUCCESS OF ‘BACKWOODS’, JUSTIN MOORE LAUNCHES NEW SINGLE: Following the chart success of his second consecutive Top 5 hit “Backwoods”, Justin Moore is gearing up for the release of his new single “How I Got To Be That Way”, and for Justin, the song is an autobiographical snapshot.  “You know who I am, now you’re gonna get to see why with this song,” Justin proclaims.  “It’s a Justin Moore song, it sounds like me, but it’s a little different storyline and stuff.  I think it’ll be good for the summer.  Honestly, everybody’s done stupid stuff growing up, and it’s just about that and learning from it and how that made you who you are.  I’m proud of the song. I wrote it with my producer Jeremy Stover and Rivers Rutherford, who’s written hit after hit after hit.

STEEL MAGNOLIA KICK OFF BRAD PAISLEY’S WATER-THEMED H2O WORLD TOUR NEXT FRIDAY

Steel Magnolia’s Meghan Linsey and Joshua Scott Jones kick off their opening run on Brad Paisley’s H2O World Tour next Friday in Virginia Beach, VA as part of the WaterWorks Stage.  Given the water-themed nature of the tour, we asked the rising stars if they are into water sports.  “I grew up on the lake, so we always took a boat out and hang out.  I never really got into the water, though.  That was my whole thing.  I wasn’t into alligators and snakes where I’m from,” says Meghan, who grew up in Louisiana.  Regardless of their affinity for the water, the duo is looking forward to spending time with their tour mates.  “It seems like we play a lot of shows with Easton Corbin and his guys. They’re fun. I was talking with Drew, his guitar player, about Frisbee golf. So, I think we’re gonna get some Frisbee golf goin’ on,” Josh notes.

JARON AND THE LONG ROAD TO LOVE’S DEBUT ALBUM SHOWS MORE THAN JUST A FRUSTRATED SIDE OF LOVE: Jaron And The Long Road To Love’s runaway hit “Pray For You” hit the Mediabase Top 20 this week, but the break-up anthem is just one perspective on love presented on the Georgia native’s debut solo album Getting Dressed In The Dark (in stores 6/22).  With the words ‘The Long Road To Love’ following his name, many believe Jaron has a band with him, but it’s just Jaron and his quest for love.  “It's my journey,” he proclaims.  “It's my way of letting listeners know that my songs are about my personal experiences of falling in and out of love.  It's an account of where I got it right and where I got it wrong.  That's what this album is all about."  Currently the song chronicling where Jaron got it wrong is making all the noise, but the singer-songwriter is quick to point out that the album has tracks about the highlights he's experienced in relationships as well.  “I have a song on the album called ‘That’s Beautiful To Me' and I receive hundreds of emails every week from fans telling me they're going to walk down the aisle to this song,” continues Jaron.  “This song represents the sweetest moments I have found in love.  When you start dating someone, everything they do is cute.  After a while some of the cute things become annoying.  But if you stick around long enough, it all becomes Beautiful again.  I chose to end the album on a positive note because I truly believe that the stings you get from love are worth the sweetness of the honey.”  Fans can hear that song and several other tracks as part of a sneak peek album preview here.
