When the Kenny Chesney tour kicked off on the 17th, it included Billy Currington in an opening slot. Billy said he took the gig after a call from Kenny's manager.

"Kenny's manager called me and said that Kenny wanted me on his tour," Billy recalls. "It's  going to be a good stepping stone for me.."
Of course Kenny won't mind at all that one of his openers is now sporting the #1 song in the country.

Billy's single, "Let Me Down Easy," moved up to take over the #1 spot in the nation this week.

With so much success from the git-go, so many goals reached, question is, was what more does she want?

“Continuation. There is longevity,” mentions Taylor. “I have so many heroes that are simply my heroes because of their longevity and their cultural relevancy and their musical relevancy over decades – people who I feel have been so incredible and authentic at what they do for long periods of time. You know, I want to keep doing this. That’s the next goal, you
know, just keep on doing this, and hopefully, people like it."

JUSTIN MOORE PAYS TRIBUTE TO HIS “GRANDPA”

Justin Moore's latest single, “If Heaven Wasn't So Far Away,” honors those who have died, and it includes a specific line paying tribute to grandfathers -- “If heaven wasn’t so far away/I’d pack up the kids and go for the day/introduce them to their grandpa/watch them laugh at the way he talked.” When the singer first heard the song, which he didn‟t write, he connected with it on a deeply personal level. In November  2009, Justin lost his beloved grandfather, Tom “PawPaw” Moore, late in 2009, due to complications
from cancer. The Arkansas native was very close to his grandfather, a retired Navy man, who taught young Justin how to hunt and fish, and even had him in a deer stand when he was just two years old.

He says the song is sort of a replacement for not releasing probably his favorite song he's ever written “Grandpa,” which was included on his self-titled debut album. “When I heard "If Heaven Wasn‟t So Far Away,‟ I said, "Well, this has to be the first single and kind of fill that void.‟ The current single is the first release from his upcoming album, due out later this year.

RASCAL FLATTS SINGLE DOING ITS JOB FOR ALBUM

Before the advent of albums, the record business was about selling singles. With the appearance of LP albums, the single's job was to sell albums. Now, with the advent of iTunes and other internet music stores, the single has become even more important both as an individual product and to sell albums. Rascal Flatts' latest music provides a good example. Their latest single, "I Won't Let Go,"
is quickly becoming one of the band’s biggest impact hits, already ranking in the top 15 in radio airplay and spurring a 22% sales increase this week for the band’s latest album NOTHING LIKE THIS.
