TOBY KEITH MEETS WOUNDED WARRIOR
Few artists have done more to support our military fighting abroad, including the Middle East, than Toby Keith, who’s made numerous annual trips to the region entertaining troops in camps and in hot war zones. Toby also supports our Wounded Warriors, who come back from war zones severely injured. One case in point is a soldier we mentioned last year named Chris Aguilera, a side gunner on a helicopter that was shot out of the air by an RPG in Afghanistan killing nearly everybody on board. Chris survived, but was badly burned and spine injured. He went through months of therapy and surgeries including the amputation of a few burn-damaged toes, plus skin grafts. When Toby was made aware of Chris Aguilera, he recorded a personal get well message that was sent to Chris. Chris still faces more surgery to have his achilles tendon replaced by a cadaver tendon, but he is doing well and back on limited duty.
Aguilera had become a fan of Keith when he saw one of Toby’s shows in Afghanistan a year or so back, so he was excited to get tickets to Keith’s August 6th, show in Las Vegas. And, with meet and greet passes his publicist arranged, Chris and his wife were able to meet Toby in person. Toby greeted them warmly and thanked wounded Warrior, Chris, for his service.
I guess you could say that both Chris Aguilera and Toby Keith are the kind of people we’re proud to say were, “Made In America.”
REBA IS INSPIRED BY LIFETIME LOVES IN HER LIFE
Reba‘s new single, “Somebody’s Chelsea,” is about a woman who hopes to find a lifetime love of her own, and Reba says she is inspired in her own relationship by lots of lifetime loves in her life such as, “my mom and dad, Narvel's mom and dad, Gloria and Narvel Blackstock, my good friends George and Barbara Bush who have stayed together many, many years.” But Reba knows that everlasting love isn‟t always perfect.
“I've got lots of friends, teachers, who have stayed with their partners many years and you just watch that, you know that love they don't have to talk about. It's there with them all the time and you see that they do get ticked off, that they have arguments and maybe some fights, but you know they're there through thick and thin together.” Reba and her husband Narvel Blackstock just celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary in June and she hopes to follow in her own parents footsteps of loving each other for a lifetime. “I can see mama and daddy taking care of each other in their golden years and it's very sweet and very special to know that they have each other.”
THE STAGE IS AN EMOTIONAL PLACE FOR BRANTLEY GILBERT
When an artist records a song and then performs it every night on stage it would be easy to believe that after a while they’re just going through the motions, but Brantley Gilbert says that’s not the case at all. For him, being on stage is “an emotional experience,” and he says, “When you see people actually respond to songs and sing along to songs that you dug your heart out to write it really hits home and it takes you home for a minute. Like it‟s almost like going to the bike shop. It’s almost like sittin‟ in mama’s living room, or it takes you back to where you wrote the song. There‟s so many things that go through your mind.”
Also, when Brantley writes songs, he writes them from a very personal place, often about real experiences that he‟s lived through, and he says, “A lot of people don‟t understand that some of those songs are hard to sing, and having people sing „em back to you actually pulls you through it. It’s amazing how much easier it makes it. You know, we‟re up there singing about girls that we fell in love with that broke our heart, or losing our grandfather or going through problems, things that really, really hit home and things that are hard to even talk about or even think about, and you‟re having to sing ‘em every night.” Brantley is leaving his heart on the stage in clubs and venues all across the country this summer. You can see a complete list of his tour dates here.
TAYLOR SWIFT HOPES NOTHING SUCCEEDS LIKE SUCCESS
When you look at Taylor Swift’s career and all that she has accomplished you might wonder, what’ s left? For Taylor the answer is easy: repetition and longevity. "Any award that you've won once, it's definitely a goal to win that award twice, possibly,” she says. If she had to be more specific Taylor says, “All the stadiums on this tour that I've never played before I'm really excited about playing. Going to South America and touring I'm really excited about, going back to Australia, those are all things I really wanna do.”
After that the goal is pretty simple for Taylor. “I would just love to keep doing this. That would be awesome.” If the unmatched sales—her album Speak Now is the #1-selling album in all genres of music over the past 12 months—and the stellar reviews on her Speak Now World Tour are any indication, Taylor will be doing this as long as she wants. Taylor‟s new single, “Sparks Fly,” is already in the top 30 and her tour will stop next in Chicago for two more sold out shows.

It‟s just the biggest party of the year in Nashville and it shows what all of us country artists do on a nightly basis, you know, so It's great and it's televised. I think it's just going to show the effect of how crazy our fans are, and country music fans.” Jay DeMarcus teases, “We’ve got a big surprise, too.” “About four of 'em,” added Joe Don Rooney. So if you want to know what the surprises are that Rascal Flatts has in store on "CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock,” tune into the three-hour special Sunday, August 14the at 8pm ET on ABC.
STEEL MAGNOLIA‟S “BULLETPROOF” IS STEEL MAGNOLIA WITH LEAD SINGING SWITCH
Mostly the songs Steel Magnolia has released off their debut album have featured a blend of Josh and Meghan‟s voices on leads, but on their new song, “Bulletproof,” they decided to change things up a little and have Meghan take the lead. For this anthem mostly for women Josh says, “I think it’s a breath of fresh air for fans and listeners when you hear a group do something different and a different vocal approach to something you’re like “who is this?‟ I think people are gonna wonder who it is, but it’s a great song so people are gonna wanna hear it, and then when they find out it‟s Steel Mag I think that’s cool. So it’s gonna be a breath of fresh air.”
MARTINA McBRIDE’S DAUGHTERS FOLLOWER HER FOOTSTEPS?...GOOD QUESTION
Martina McBride’s three daughters are all talented in their own way and show signs of being performers, but mom’s not sure if they’ll follow in her footsteps and pursue a career in music. She says, “You know my middle daughter Emma wants to be an actress. She’s wanted to be an actress for as long as I can remember. She’s got a really great voice. My older daughter, Delaney, has an amazing voice and obviously lots of personality and a flare for comedy, but I can’t get them to perform in front of people. Like when I was little all I wanted to do was sing in front of people.” Martina thinks her youngest daughter Ava shows the most potential of actually making it to the stage. “She seems to have a knack for wanting to perform and she takes drum lessons and piano lessons at six years old so, we‟ll see.” They all certainly have a great role model if they do choose to pursue singing careers. Meanwhile, Martina’s is rookling on with the release of “I‟m Gonna Love You Through It,” off of her forthcoming album that will be out in October.
ELI YOUNG BAND ALBUM FIELD-TESTED MUSIC
The best way to know if a new song works, is to sing it out in front live audiences. That’s how it works for thehEli Young Band. When they launch a new CD they have a pretty good idea how their fans will receive the new music because they’ve often tested out the songs ahead of time. Their new CD, Life At Best, comes out on August 16th, and Jon says, “A majority of the songs on this record are ones we’ve written, so we were able to field test them out on the crowd and get the crowd reaction before they even went on this album.” Mike likes being able to test out the songs first because he says, “that way when you go into the studio you have a good idea of the direction already.” “Life At Best” will feature their single, “Crazy Girl,” which has already sold over half a million digital copies.
SUNNY SWEENEY’S AUTO-BIO SONG TOUCHING PEOPLE OF ALL AGES
Sunny Sweeney co-wrote her latest single, “Staying’s Worse Than Leaving,” from the very personal heartbreak of deciding to end her marriage. That’s triggered stories from fans of all ages, who are dealing with relationships at all different stages in life are relating to the song. For instance, she says, “This 18 year old girl came up to me and said,””You know my boyfriend blah, blah, blah, and my boyfriend this and we finally broke up and we’ve been together for six months.‟ And at that period in your life six months is an eternity, but then another woman had been married 30 years and her husband had left her after 30 years.” And that's the beauty of the song to Sunny who says, “I just think that it‟s cool that a song that you write can touch somebody in so many different ways, whether it‟s an 18 year old girl or a 55 year old woman and the fact that people respond to it, that‟s what we do this for.” Sunny will release her new album, Concrete, on August 23rd.

TRACE ADKINS AND RICHARD PETTY AT IT AGAIN
Trace Adkins and Richard Petty Are At It Again -Giving Each Other Headaches With Their Friendly Feuding...The Friendly Rivalry Moves to Facebook With 12 New Funny Videos After a year of friendly feuding during the BC and Goody’s ‘Pick A Powder’ campaign that launched last summer, Trace Adkins and Richard Petty continue their rivalry by releasing 12 new videos on BC Powder <http://on.fb.me/rkatQ9> ’s and Goody’s Powder <http://www.facebook.com/GoodysPowder> ’s Facebook pages. Fans of Petty and Adkins and of both brands of fast pain relief products can see the two men interact in various humorous scenarios. The ‘painful moments’ represented in the videos, where the spokesmen boldly tackle one another’s worlds emphasize the effectiveness and need of headache powders to get rid of pain fast. Starting the first week of August, fans will be able to go to BC Powder <http://on.fb.me/rkatQ9> ’s and Goody’s Powder <http://www.facebook.com/GoodysPowder> ’s Facebook pages and view the new videos which include Adkins evaluating Petty’s dancing and wardrobe choices, Petty teaching Adkins about resistance training and trying anything and everything to remove a racing helmet from Adkins’ head. The ‘Pick A Powder’ campaign started as a friendly “rivalry” to determine who experiences the toughest pain and plays off the fierce and generational loyalty users have to either Goody’s or BC. Later in the year, fans will be able to once again support raising funds for Wounded Warrior Project on behalf of BC and Adkins and Victory Junction Camp on behalf of Goody’s and Petty. Last year, BC and Goody’s collectively gave $100,000 to the charities in a check presentation at the Goody’s Fast Relief 500 in Martinsville, Va., and they hope to get the public’s help in raising that much again. Also, participants who “like”, share or download a coupon for their favorite headache powders on Facebook will be able to participate in a sweepstakes that will include an all-expense paid VIP trip for four to the Goody’s Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway (race tickets, air and hotel) courtesy of Goody’s, or an all-expense paid VIP trip for four to a Trace Adkins concert stop (concert tickets, air and hotel) in early 2012 (location TBD) courtesy of BC.
