SPEAKING OF BOOKS...
JIMMY WAYNE'S BOOK IN STORES
Howard Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, will release Jimmy Wayne’s book Paper Angels, on November 1st, 2011. The release marks the recording artist’s debut as an author, and is a work of fiction inspired by Jimmy’s own childhood as a recipient of the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program. Paper Angels was written with best-selling author Travis Thrasher.
“When my sister and I were kids, we were represented by two of those little paper angels hanging on the Salvation Army Christmas tree,” Jimmy said. “Our family was going through a really tough time, and had it not been for the Salvation Army and the people who selected our paper angels, we wouldn’t have had a Christmas. I have never forgotten that and to this day I am still grateful for the generous hearts who take care of these kids at Christmas.”
About Paper Angels
Kevin Morrell is a 43-year-old husband and father who runs a design and marketing firm trying to make it in a suffering economy. Thomas Brandt is a fifteen-year-old boy still reeling from the implosion of his family caused by his alcoholic father. Kevin and Thomas’s lives collide when Kevin stops at the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Project in the midst of the mall’s Christmas chaos. The paper angel he takes from the tree leads him to Thomas, his siblings and their mom Lynn, penniless and struggling after escaping their abusive home.
