ALAN JACKSON ON GOOD TIME VOCAL EFFECT PDF Print E-mail

Image Every now and then, you'll hear a song that has kind of a computer-sounding vocal effect - like the sound you hear that kicks off Alan Jackson's new song, "Good Time." "That's called a vocoder," he explains. And while it may sound like something out of Star Trek, it's really an instrument. Alan remembers radio stations using the effect a lot in the '70s and '80s. When you hook up a vocoder to a microphone and speak into it, the vocal goes through the instrument, and - as Alan says - "It sounds so funky... I thought that was kind of neat, but nobody's going to know what it is if we don't tell them." Tell your friends - "Good Time" is one of 17 new songs Alan wrote for his latest album... also called Good Time... that features his recent number-one hit, "Small Town Southern Man."
