REBA’S “SOMEBODY’S CHELSEA” VIDEO DEBUTED

CMT and CMT.com will host the exclusive world premiere of Reba’s new video “Somebody’s Chelsea” debuted yesterday.  Kicking off with a 15-minute special CMT PREMIERES: REBA – “SOMEBODY’S CHELSEA,” fans can see behind-the-scenes footage from the video shoot, which was filmed in Los Angeles and directed by Trey Fanjoy.  Reba helped create the video concept with Fanjoy, which showcases a storybook love affair told through a chance encounter on an airplane.

Co-written by Reba, Liz Hengber and Will Robinson, the inspiration for the song came from a line of dialogue in the film P. S. I Love You, in which Harry Connick Jr’s character tells Hilary Swank, “I’m going to go find somebody because one of these days, I want to be somebody’s Frank.”
“I gasped and I got on the computer and emailed Liz saying, ‘This is a great idea for a song!’” said Reba. “So she got Will to help us with it and we wrote ‘Somebody’s Chelsea.’”

“SOMEBODY’S CHELSEA” will be retelecast on Monday, September 26 at 10:45 a.m. ET/PT and on Tuesday, September 27 at 9:00 a.m. ET/PT.

MARTINA McBRIDE RECORDS ALBUM IN ATLANTA

Martina McBride  and her husband John own their own state-of-the-art recording studio in Nashville where she has recorded a lot of her albums, but after she signed her new record deal and it was time to start recording, her record label CEO, Scott Borchetta, suggested she get out of her comfort zone and get out of town to record her new album.  Martina was intrigued by the idea because she says, “I wear a lot of hats when I’m here. To my children, my husband, my record company. There‟s always sort of I’m getting pulled in all different directions and the music really kinda comes second honestly. I sort of have about three or four hours a day to really focus.”  So after getting her daughter’s blessing to leave town and head to
Atlanta to record, Martina said it changed everything.  “It just gave me this freedom to go and I got up every day and all I could think about, all I had to think about was “What do I want to do today, musically? What do I want to create? What picture do I want to paint today?‟
It was awesome.”  Martina’s new CD,  Eleven, will be in stores on October 11th.

THE BAND PERRY AGAINST THE WORLD

Being three siblings on the road together it’s only natural that The Band Perry will have occasional spats or arguments, but it‟s a lesson their parents taught them when they were very young that keeps them tight-knit.  Kimberly says, “I remember when we were kids and this has come in really handy since we travel together as adults; they would always carry us to the window if we had gotten in a sibling spat … and he said, “You see that out there? That’s a big world. It’s a tough world.

You’re gonna have to fight through every day. We’re not gonna fight here in this house.‟

And so our parents always taught us to be really gracious to one another and we try to follow that as well as we can.”  They admit they’re not perfect.  Kimberly confesses, “ after fourteen days on the road. It's funny how we can revert back to petty sibling arguments.”

With 75 dates on the books for their  Purveyors of Performance Tour, which will last well into next year, they‟ll have plenty of time to test their family bonds out on the road.

ELI YOUNG BAND DON’T MIND PAYING THEIR DUES

The  Eli Young Band has spent years paying their dues and building their careers, so you might think they would resent the “instant stardom” that comes from shows like  American Idol, but they don't.  Mike Eli acknowledges it’s just a different path to take.  “Our outlook on it is that we've kind of paved our road in a way that we're building a foundation that we'll be able to always turn back to. You know you build something quality it's gonna be there for a long time and hopefully we'll be making music for a really long time. I think that in the age of the instant star they still have to pay their dues.  They just have to do it in a different way and they have to do it in front of people. A lot of people. Whereas,” he laughs, “we got to pay our dues in front of no one.  Many times”.  Fortunately all of that hard work is paying off for them.  They’re song “Crazy Girl” is a top ten hit and October

Toby Keith spent more than an hour yesterday chatting with the National Country press corps about a wide-range of subjects. The main topic was his new album release, CLANCY’s TAVERN, that includes his Incognito Bandito favorites, plus Toby’s recent chart topper “Made In America.”  It also includes a rich mix of swampy, and jumpin’ songs that stay in your head. One of Toby’s favorite on the collection is the tagged-for-single, “Red Solo Cup,” a unique, irresistible drinking song that will forever make toby a god among  watering halls that pour their draft beer in to red solo cups.”  Toby says it was love at first listen for him. “When I heard this it was a no-brainer.”
ALSO,..we asked Toby about his recent repeat as Forbes Magazine’s Top money making performer($50 million). We wanted to know what’s been the happiest thing he’s been able to do with his money for other people and his entourage. Toby said, “Well, we do a lot of things for my charities and going overseas for the troops, but I think the things that have been most personally gratifying is when I can do something for somebody who needs money for something personal, some medical reason... if a friend or someone I hear about needs something like a lung transplant, or some other life-altering thing I can do for them, things like that mean the most to me.”

RODNEY ATKINS MUSIC VIDEO DIRECTED BY ANDY TENNANT, "TAKE A BACK ROAD"

ImageRodney Atkins is celebrating his sixth career No. 1 with "Take A Back Road," and coincidentally, the video for the tune debuted across all country music video outlets yesterday.
Rodney’s ongoing success attracted the attention of Hollywood director Andy Tennant (Fool’s Gold, Hitch, Sweet Home Alabama, Fools Rush In), who has now brought his vision to Atkins' "Take A Back Road" for his first ever music video.   Watch the video.

"Rodney Atkins is everything I never knew I always wanted in a country music star; ridiculously talented, soft-spoken and decent, and wonderfully humble," shares Tennant.

The video was shot in Tennessee with locations in Nashville, Carthage, and White Bluff. Tennant describes the treatment: “Think of Rodney as the angel from Wender's ‘Wings of Desire,’ but instead of Brandenberg gate, he’s perched high on an old water tower.  [He’s] beckoning people, like the call to prayer, back to the country Mecca of small town America…White Bluff.”

The title track, “My So Called Life”, was recently recorded by country superstar duo Montgomery Gentry to be included on their new album. McGraw produced and co-wrote every song on the album. The new single, released now, has an accompanying video that will be released soon.

“This longtime Music Row fave is back with a shuddering ballad of heartbreak and regret. The song is so tuneful and ultra hooky that if his version doesn’t strike paydirt, somebody else should cover it pronto. A super effort.”

LEE ANN WOMACK HONORED GEORGE JONES

Following her stint on the George Strait/Reba McEntire tour for the first half of 2011, Lee Ann Womack is getting back to her kind of country music with a  vengeance. With a fistful of songs she’s spent the past several months writing and finding, Womack kicks off the process of makig a new record by honoring the legendary George Jones at the Grand Ole Opry, as part of his 80th Birthday celebration, Sept. 13th; then heads to the Ryman to participate in the Academy of Country Music’s annual ACM Honors event Sept. 19th.

“What a great way to start work on a new record,” says the Album, Single and Female Vocalist of the Year winner. “When you want to get your horizon line, any time you can start with someone as great as George Jones – or be part of this year’s ACM Honors, singing for Tom T Hall, it reminds you what it takes to make music that lasts.

“I’m getting to sing with Alan Jackson tomorrow, which is always great. There are so few true country singers out there like Jones… not that anyone will ever sing like George Jones. But when you’re listening to Alan, like when you’re listening to George Strait, that’s pure country. No matter what kind of song they’re singing. And the same thing goes when you’re singing a Tom T. Hall song: that’s country!”

Womack literally begins work on the follow up to her Call Me Crazy with ACM and CMA Award-winning producer Frank Liddell, known for his work with Miranda Lambert, David Nail, Pistol Annies and Chris Knight, on the same day at the Jones Birthday Bash – and will be coming from the studio. “But when they ask you to honor George Jones, you… just… do… it!

“It’s the same way with the Academy of Country Music. When they ask for something as special having you come sing for Tom T Hall, you just ask what time. The people they single out represent the best of so many aspects of this business – and it makes me proud that they want me to be a part of this event again this year.”

Having started with guitar/vocal work-ups with multiple Grammy-winning acoustic guitarist Randy Scruggs, this is the next stage of building the perfect Lee Ann Womack album. “I have so many ideas… and so many things that I want to try on our way to creating this music,” explains the woman who’s spent 6 weeks at #1 with the timeless  “I Hope You Dance,” as well as “Ashes By Now,” “I May Hate Myself In The Morning” and “Last Call.”  “You realize after few albums, every record matter… and I want to make sure each one really says something special and represents what this music can be in a way that stands out.

“As for singing for my heroes, well, that’s the reason I do all of this in the first place.”

CASEY JAMES CAPTURING THE  MOOD

Newcomer Casey James captures the mood of a great evening with the goodtime feel of his debut single, “Let’s Don’t Call It a Night” — and since the song is all about staying up and not letting go of an amazing evening with your favorite gal, Casey’s thinking that the song just might be a winner with the ladies.

The digital single for “Let’s Don’t Call It a Night” is available now! Look for it at your favorite digital music provider, and find it on iTunes.

MIRANDA LAMBERT IS FOUR THE RECORD

“Baggage Claim” is the first hit single and first taste of new music from Miranda Lambert’s upcoming album, Four the Record, and Miranda tells us that keeping her music and artistry fresh from album to album is all about evolving and reinventing herself.

Miranda explains,
“I cannot keep doing what I’ve been doing, even though it worked — to me, part of havin’ a long career is keep reinventing yourself, keep reinventing your music, and make it fresh. And it’s kind of crazy to think that I’m on my fourth record, and after what Revolution did for my career, I was nervous, but what am I gonna do? So I just started writing, started collecting songs, finding songs, and listening to artists, and I just found that I’m gonna just let the music lead it and see where this record goes and see where it goes productionwise, and I just think I followed my heart.”

CHRIS YOUNG TO PERFORM SOULFUL NEW SINGLE “YOU” ON

Young will perform his soulful new single “YOU” on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, which airs Weeknights at 12:35am/11:35pm Central on CBS. This marks Young’s fourth national TV appearance since the release of his acclaimed third album, NEON, earlier this summer.

In addition to his recent CMA nomination, Young joined partygoers last week to celebrate multiple milestones, including his fourth #1 single, the GOLD certified “Tomorrow,” and the GOLD certification of his sophomore album, The Man I Want To Be.

CELEBRATING GRANDPARENTS DAY?

How many of you celebrate Grandparents day?  In 1978, President Jimmy Carter signed the legislation enacting National Grandparents Day, which is recognized each year on the first Sunday after Labor Day.

So, Miranda Lambert is happy to see her future self in her mom and her grandmother.
“I’m becoming more like my mom I think the older I get. Just my demeanor, and even the way I look. Because I always grew up looking just like my dad. But I find that little things I do, even like the way I sit in the car, you know, with my feet on the dash, I’ll just go, ‘Oh my gosh, this is just like my mom sat my whole life.’ And she’s just like her mom now. You know, so it’s really fun to go, ‘Okay, at least I know what my future holds.’ You know, hanging out with my ‘Nonny’ and my mom, I’m like, ‘Well, at least I’ve something to look forward to.’ They both still have a blast in life and love to party, so I’m excited.”

Brad Paisley says that it was a gift from his grandfather that truly changed his life.
“Nothing has changed my life like the fact that my grandfather gave me a guitar when I was a kid. For me, it’s my release. It’s this thing that has become such an integral part of my life and who I am. I don’t know who I’d be without it. You know? I’ve been playing the guitar since I was eight, so almost every major decision I’ve ever made that I can remember was influenced by that. It’s an amazing thing how much learning to play music can change your life really.”

REMEMBERING 9-11 FROM SONY ARTISTS

Ronnie Dunn recalls the reaction to Brooks & Dunn’s performance of “Only in America” following 9-11.
“I remember the most emotionally moved I’ve ever been was after 9-11. We went out on tour, and we prepared a video snippet, and it had nothing to do with 9-11. And we start this show with a heartbeat — boom, boom — big heartbeat, massive in the sound system, and it would kick in to ‘Only in America.’ And the crowd was so loud during the song that you couldn’t hear yourself sing. And so emotional. My wife…I took my wife out on the tour, I mean Janine, to see what was goin’ on. It was unbelievable.”

DANNY GOKEY found comfort and inspiration in the unity of the American people following 9-11.
“9-11 was a very tragic event, and I remember I was livin’ with my brother at the time. I woke up one morning — my brother woke me up — he said, ‘Oh, man, you need to turn the TV on.’ He said, ’A plane just hit the World Trade Center.’ And I was like, ‘What?’ I couldn’t believe it, and so I got up, and I started watchin’ it, and I was just like, ‘What is goin’ on?’ But the thing that I think I remember more than all of it, than all the tragedy, all the despair of the situation is I remember America coming united together. I remember that night I went on the corner, just the corner outside my house, and there was people out there that were having candlelight vigils everywhere. People just standin’ on the corners of the streets, holding lighters, holding candles, and I joined ‘em. And I was like, ’Wow, this is amazing.’”

MIRANDA LAMBERT recalls how 9-11 reached even into her small hometown.
“9-11, I was a sophomore in high school; I was in the choir. And I remember even in my little-bitty town of East Texas — in Lindale, Texas — there was kids leavin’ school because their loved ones had been injured or killed in 9-11, so it affected so many people and so many lives, and it’ll never be forgotten as long as I live. I’ll always remember where I was and that feeling.”

JAKE  OWEN  was in a college classroom as he saw the unfolding tragedy of 9-11.
“I’ll never forget, man, I was in school — I was taking a critical reasoning and thinking class, right off of the Landis Green in Tallahassee at Florida State University. And I remember sittin’ down that morning in class, and on the big projector, he had the news on, and he was like, ’Ah, some idiot,’ our teacher said, ‘Some idiot just flew his plane into the World Trade Center.’ And everyone’s like, ‘What?’ We couldn’t believe that. And then, it was right then, man, where all of a sudden, they started saying it was a terrorist act, and the next thing you know, they said, ‘There’s another one coming! There’s another one coming!’ And it was just…man, to sit there and watch that was one of the most horrific things I’ve ever seen with my own eyes.”

JOSH THOMPSON was between classes when he first saw the news of 9-11.
“My memory of 9-11 was I was in school — the natural resources program at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, Wisconsin — and was just between classes, and there’s this great big screen in the commons area, and it was on the news — it was all over — and we just kind of all stopped what we were doing and watched. And you know, the rest of the day, all the classes, we all just spent watching the news and kind of not believing what was goin’ on. And I remember one of the teachers said then that our lives are about to change drastically, and he was right.”

TRIBUTE TO 9-11 VICTIMS ON MARS

Did you know that thanks to NASA, there is a physical tribute to the 9-11 victims in a memorial on the  planet Mars?
In September 2001, Honeybee Robotics employees in lower Manhattan were building a pair of tools for grinding weathered rinds off rocks on Mars, so that scientific instruments on NASA's Mars Exploration Rovers Spirit and Opportunity could inspect the rocks' interiors.

That month's attack on the twin towers of the World Trade Center, less than a mile away, shook the lives of the employees and millions of others.

Work on the rock abrasion tools needed to meet a tight schedule to allow thorough testing before launch dates governed by the motions of the planets. The people building the tools could not spend much time helping at shelters or in other ways to cope with the life-changing tragedy of Sept. 11. However, they did find a special way to pay tribute to the thousands of victims who perished in the attack.

An aluminum cuff serving as a cable shield on each of the rock abrasion tools on Mars was made from aluminum recovered from the destroyed World Trade Center towers. The metal bears the image of an American flag and fills a renewed purpose as part of solar system exploration.

Honeybee Robotics collaborated with the New York mayor's office; a metal-working shop in Round Rock, Texas; NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif.; and the rover missions' science leader, Steve Squyres, at Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y.

"It's gratifying knowing that a piece of the World Trade Center is up there on Mars. That shield on Mars, to me, contrasts the destructive nature of the attackers with the ingenuity and hopeful attitude of Americans," said Stephen Gorevan, Honeybee founder and chairman, and a member of the Mars rover science team.

On the morning of Sept. 11, 2011, Gorevan was six blocks from the World Trade Center, riding his bicycle to work, when he heard an airliner hit the first tower. "Mostly, what comes back to me even today is the sound of the engines before the first plane struck the tower. Just before crashing into the tower, I could hear the engines being revved up as if those behind the controls wanted to ensure the maximum destruction. I stopped and stared for a few minutes and realized I felt totally helpless, and I left the scene and went to my office nearby, where my colleagues told me a second plane had struck. We watched the rest of the sad events of that day from the roof of our facility."

At Honeybee's building on Elizabeth Street, as in the rest of the area, normal activities were put on hold for days, and the smell from the collapse of the towers persisted for weeks.
Steve Kondos, who was at the time a JPL engineer working closely with the Honeybee team, came up with the suggestion for including something on the rovers as an interplanetary memorial. JPL was building the rovers and managing the project.

To carry out the idea, an early hurdle was acquiring an appropriate piece of material from the World Trade Center site. Through Gorevan's contacts, a parcel was delivered to Honeybee Robotics from the mayor's office on Dec. 1, 2001, with a twisted plate of aluminum inside and a note: "Here is debris from Tower 1 and Tower 2."

Tom Myrick, an engineer at Honeybee, saw the possibility of machining the aluminum into the cable shields for the rock abrasion tools. He hand-delivered the material to the machine shop in Texas that was working on other components of the tools. When the shields were back in New York, he affixed an image of the American flag on each.

The Mars Exploration Rover Spirit was launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla., on June 10, 2003. Opportunity's launch followed on July 7. Both rovers landed the following January and completed their three-month prime missions in April 2004. Nobody on the rover team or at Honeybee spoke publicly about the source of the aluminum on the cable shields until later that year.

"It was meant to be a quiet tribute," Gorevan told a New York Times reporter writing a November 2004 story about Manhattan's participation in the rover missions. "Enough time has passed. We want the families to know."

JEFF DUNHAM TO RELEASE STAND-UP DVD, "CONTROLLED CHAOS," ON 9/27
Following the Broadcast Premiere on Comedy Central on 9/25 at 9/8 c
Fourth Comedy Special Sure to Add More to His Astounding 7 Million Plus Total
If there's one thing that's by now inevitable, it's that any DVD released by Jeff Dunham will surely and rapidly sell. The world's leading standup comedy concert attraction has already sold more than seven million copies of his four previous titles over the last five years, during which time his career has rocketed to new levels of success. The DVD and Blu-Ray of "Controlled Chaos" hits stores on September 27 and will make an unprecedented global release in nearly a dozen territories with domestic distribution company Paramount Home Entertainment and international distribution company PIAS.

Sales in the millions will no doubt follow. The title already hit #2 on Amazon's comedy DVD sales charts as soon as pre-orders were announced in July more than two months before the title is available. The DVD and Blu-Ray feature almost twice as much as material as will be seen when "Controlled Chaos" premieres in North America on Comedy Central on the evening of September 25. Since his last special, "A Very Special Christmas Special," was the highest-rated show ever on the cable channel, a new ratings record is likely in the offing.

Many fans that enjoy the 90 minute special on TV will also purchase copies for all the extras, including exclusive special features and bloopers. Plus, as Dunham notes of his avid following, "People pass around the DVDs or give them to each other as gifts."

Added sales oomph comes from the fact that "Controlled Chaos" features an all new Dunham stage show and debuts some new characters to his suitcase posse of comedic sidekicks. "I'm more proud of this special than I have been of any other because I literally started from scratch on this one," he says.

Joining his troupe are the not-as-equally skeletal son of his famed Achmed the Dead Terrorist, Achmed Junior. Plus his wild and wooly purple character Peanut has decided to emulate Dunham by getting his own character dummy: a mini-version of Dunham known as Little Jeff.

From the moment the special opens with the "Achmedmobile" - a hot rod with a giant Achmed head mounted atop its engine - a whole new level of laughs is offered by Dunham this time. And the DVD is sure to keep bringing his fans out to his arena-packing shows that have made Dunham the top live comedy box office attraction in North America for the last three years and the world for two year in a row. "If people like it then they usually want to come to see the live thing too, because there's nothing like the live experience," notes Dunham.

Since average DVD sales for standup comedy specials are 25,000, Dunham's seven million plus sales to date are already phenomenal. Now "Controlled Chaos" stands to take the comedian named "America's favorite" by Slate to even further stratospheric levels of success. Fans can get advance glimpses of the hilarity that will ensue on his dedicated preview web page (www.jeffdunham.com/controlledchaos) and his popular Facebook page, where he has amassed over 6 million fans.
