GEORGE STRAIT HAS 30 CONSECUTIVE YEARS OF TOP 10 BILLBOARD HITS

ImageSometimes the terms, "King" or "Queen," of something are just terms to hype artists that wanna be so Royal. But, not in the case of King George Strait. Billboard announced yesterday that Strait has accomplished what no other artist in the history of Billboard charts has – 30 years of consecutive Top 10 hits.  With his current single from the TWANG album, “I Gotta Get to You” jumping from No. 12 to No. 9 on Billboard’s radio airplay list, Strait’s number of Top 10 hits totals 82 and marks 2010 as the historic 30th year milestone.

Billboard writes, “30 years into his unparalleled career, the 'King of Country' shows no signs of abdicating the throne.”

“It just continues to be one heck of a ride that I'm enjoying every minute of,” responds Strait.  “Time does fly when you’re having fun. Thanks to all of my fans for their support. Long live country music!”

Strait landed his first Top 10 in 1981 with his first single, "Unwound."

With a career spanning more than 30 years, George Strait has the most number one singles of any artist in history including Elvis (57 To Date inclusive of all charts). He has sold more than 68.5 million records and with 33 different platinum or multi-platinum albums has the most RIAA platinum certifications in country music and the third in all genres, behind The Beatles and Elvis Presley.

TOBY KEITH, ACM MUSIC LIFTING LIVESTM & STAND UP TO CANCER PARTNER TO RAISE FUNDS FOR CANCER RESEARCH

TOBY KEITH PLANS SPECIAL PERFORMANCE
TO HONOR MEMORY OF fellow musician Wayman Tisdale
AT THE 45th ANNUAL ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC® AWARDS
COUNTRY MUSIC’S PARTY OF THE YEAR™

Toby on Tour
The Academy of Country Music announced that for the second consecutive year ACM Lifting LivesTM will partner with an artist and a benefiting charity to create a special moment on at the 45th ANNUAL ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS, broadcast LIVE from MGM GRAND in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 18th, 2010 at 8:00 PM LIVE ET/ DELAYED PT on the CBS Television Network.

ALSO,
Country music legend Toby Keith and ACM Lifting Lives will partner at the Awards for Keith’s performance of “Cryin’ For Me (Wayman’s Song)” with Dave Koz in support of Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), the charity selected this year by ACM Lifting Lives.

ACM Lifting Lives is the philanthropic arm of the Academy of Country Music dedicated to improving lives through the power of music. Last year, ACM Lifting Lives raised $100,000 for Wounded Warrior Project from downloads and direct donations as a result of Trace Adkins’ performance on the 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards.

Keith will perform “Cryin’ For Me (Wayman’s Song),” a song he wrote in memory of his friend and fellow musician, Wayman Tisdale. A three-time All-American at the University of Oklahoma, former NBA player and accomplished jazz bassist, Tisdale passed away unexpectedly last May from complications resulting from the cancer treatments that had seemingly cured him. Keith wrote the song as a tribute to his friend, intending to play it at Tisdale’s funeral. The benefiting charity of this special show moment, SU2C, seemed like a perfect fit as the funds raised will go to cancer research.

Fans will be able to pre-order the performance on the iTunes Store today and download the audio and video of Keith’s performance following the show. All proceeds from downloads will benefit Stand Up To Cancer. SU2C’s mission is to accelerate groundbreaking cancer research – being conducted by teams of scientists from institutions across the country - that will get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives.  Viewers will also have the opportunity to donate at www.LiftingLives.org <http://www.liftinglives.org>  .

“Wayman was an amazing guy.  In the song there’s a line that says ‘he showed us how to live and now he showed me how to die.’  Both of those were true.  He didn’t frown on people for how they live, he led by example.  He showed you how you're supposed to live and he died with so much dignity,” said Keith. “I am happy to partner with ACM Lifting Lives and SU2C to donate proceeds of the performance downloads to support this important cause.”

TIM McGRAW'S TALENTED FAMILY TRIO?

Tim McGraw declares "..that's not going to happen." He's referring to having three talented daughters that might want singing careers. Tim has three daughters who could easily follow in his and their mom Faith Hill’s footsteps, but he tells the New Orleans Times-Picayune, “They all can sing, and they love it. But that’s not going to happen. Not as long as I can help it.”  But ultimately he realizes that if it’s something they really want he’ll have to support them.  “I know. If they want to be in music or movies or whatever, I’m supportive of anything that they want to do,” Tim says.  “I just would like them to have a “Dr.” in front of their name. Like Dr. Gracie McGraw. And then go do whatever you want to do.  Ultimately, when it comes down to it, you’re going to support them whatever they want to do, and be proud of them.”

CARRIE HAS NOTCHED UP THE SEXY FACTOR ON TOUR

Carrie Underwood has kicked the sexy factor up a notch with her on-stage costumes on her new Play On tour, with things like a spandex catsuit and other form-fitting ensembles.  Her stylist recently shared some of the scoop on how the wardrobe came together with People Country.  Carrie enlisted the help of Soyon
An, who is one of the costume designers for American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance.  While some people might think some of the outfits are a bit bold for Carrie, Soyon says, ”She’s very fashion forward and very open to different types of clothing.  She wasn’t intimidated at all–she was ready for it. It’s a tough look but it’s her attitude–and obviously she’s got the body for it.”

DON'T SAY THE GOOD LUCK WISH, "BREAK A LEG"  TO KELLIE PICKLER

Kellie Pickler took a tumble in Las Vegas on Friday while walking around the city.  It was probably her pride that suffered the most, but she did end up with a sprained ankle that was swollen and black and blue, forcing her to do her show the next night from a chair.  She shared the event on Twitter saying, "In Vegas. Tripped and sprained my ankle in front of a wedding chapel.  Paramedics come, everyone stares, completely embarrassing."  By Sunday night she tweeted, "Wonder if it would look weird if I sing tonight with my foot in a bucket of ice....??? I'm all loopy from the pain medication."  Her next stop on the Fearless tour with Taylor Swift will be this Thursday night in Los Angeles where they have a two-night run.

SHANIA TWAIN LANDS OWN TV SHOW

ImagePeople.com reports Shania Twain has her own TV show...titled "Why Not."
The hour-long series premieres on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network. "The show will follow Twain as she begins her climb back to the top, a personal journey filled with risk, revelations and unexpected adventures," says a statement from the network.

This is Shania's second foray in front of the camera since her marriage to Robert "Mutt" Lange fell apart in May 2008 over his relationship with her then-friend – and employee – Marie-Anne Thiébaud.

SHANIA has been personally getting back into the public eye. She has posted several personal videos on her Web site in recent months, chronicling her world travels, fun times with her son Eja, 8, and her blossoming romance with her boyfriend Frédéric, who is Thiébaud's ex-husband.

In February, Twain, who has recently been spotted in New York, posted a video – shot in Canada by Thiébaud – in which she visits a radio station, jokes about her junk-food cravings and the effect of the cold weather on her skin, and banters with her Swiss-born beau, whose French-inflected voice can be heard throughout.

Last August, she posted a video travelogue documenting a skydiving trip in Florida, a camel-riding adventure in Egypt and a bike ride through a London park with Thiébaud, whom in an accompanying letter she called her "most constant companion."

JERROD NIEMANN MAKES GRAND OLE OPRY DEBUT

Jerrod Niemann has a hit on his hands, and he’s spreading the love with his very fresh sounding, fast-rising Top 30 single, “Lover, Lover.” And, as if that wasn't cool enough, this weekend, the Kansas native will make his Grand Ole Opry debut with a performance on both Saturday night Opry shows.  Looking ahead to his first time on the Opry stage, Niemann shares, “It’s still just an amazing thought to stand in that circle like so many great country music legends have.  So, I really try not to think about it too much,” as he adds with a smile, “that way, I won’t be nervous ‘til after I play.”

In addition to listening for “Lover, Lover” on the radio, fans can hear it now, along with selected other tracks, at www.jerrodniemannofficial.com <http://www.jerrodniemannofficial.com/> .

"MY  BEST DAYS ARE AHEAD OF ME," METAPHOR FOR DANNY GOKEY'S FUTURE

Image
cf.com
With his built in American Idol high profile, soulful voice, hot debut country single, Danny Gokey's "My Best Days Are Ahead of Me," could be a metaphor for his future. He says, “I actually find myself sayin’, ‘Wow. This is a work day for me.’ (laughs) Didn’t feel like I worked, but it was a work day. It was technically a work day. I think that’s the beauty of it when you’re walkin’ in your dream. You…I mean, it’s gonna be work at times where I have to buckle down, and I have to just keep doin’ it, and keep doin’ it ’til I get it right. So it can be work, but it’s the type of work that I want to do, that I have a passion for.”

CHRIS JANSON NEWEST TALENT DELIVERY FROM BNA

Newcomer Chris Janson is the latest addition to the BNA Records label and Chris is already making waves with the rockin’ country energy of his debut single, ”‘Til a Woman Comes Along.” He’s been performing since the age of 11, so seeing his first release become one of the hottest new singles at country radio this week is a mighty nice welcome for the Missouri native. It’s a song that Chris co-wrote, and he says it’s all about the way that guys tend to live before they find “the one.”

CRAIG MORGAN LOVIN' IT ON UNDERWOOD TOUR

Craig Morgan is on the road opening Carrie Underwood’s Play On Tour. With nearly 20 shows behind them already, Craig has nothing but the nicest things to say about Carrie and her team. And while Craig also recalls having a great time on the road with Trace Adkins, he laughs that there’s at least one area where Carrie has it all over Trace.

Craig Morgan talks about touring with Carrie Underwood.

“I’ve been touring for about ten years, and this is really the first time that I’ve been on a tour of this magnitude with someone who is so gracious. Now, I’ve been out with Trace Adkins, and I will say he was gracious. He just wasn’t near as pretty when he was bein’ so gracious. (laughs) But honestly, it’s absolutely amazing. Carrie, as well as everyone in her staff, everyone that works with her, have just been extremely cordial. It’s a lot of fun. They’re a great bunch of people to work with, and on top of that, catering’s awesome.” (laughs)

“I wrote this song with my good friend Kent Blazy, and it’s been in my ‘favorite’ stack for a while,” says Wariner.  “It was the first song I recorded after completing the Chet project.  I just love what it says about how we’re all responsible for this planet and what we’re leaving to our children.  It’s also a really positive message about how each of us can make this world better in our own way.”  The song is available for download at amazon.com.

TAMMY COCHRAN HIT INSPIRES PERSONAL TRIBUTES TO FALLEN SOLDIERS

In 2001 Tammy Cochran scored a #9 hit with a tribute to her two deceased  brothers titled "Angels In Waiting." Now, according to troopradio.com, that song has been adopted by soldiers in the field in Iraq and Afghanistan as their personal tribute to fellow soldiers that have died in action.

The site's program director told Tammy's camp, "Some of our soldiers have received tattoos of angels holding dead soldiers. They have all said that they came up with the angel theme because of her song “Angels In Waiting” and that they had the song playing over and over again while they received the tattoo.  They have said that the received the tattoos in order to remember their friends.   Right now one of them (the tattoo) is one the main page: www.troopradio.com <http://www.troopradio.com> ,The site www.troopradio.com <http://www.troopradio.com>  (link to site)

The partnership is through the Nature Valley National Parks Project, a new program that will fund important restoration projects at the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone and Biscayne National Parks.

“To me, there’s nothing better than being outside, enjoying the parks, the lakes and the oceans – and that’s what makes protecting our national parks so important,” said Kenny Chesney. “Teaming up with Nature Valley to raise awareness and funds is a great way to make sure the public realizes how special these parks are and that they can have a hand in keeping them available to generations to come.”

ZAC BROWN BAND WANTS FAN VOTES FOR ACM AWARDS

The Zac Brown Band, winner of the 2010 Best New Artist Grammy, heads out on tour with one goal: "We want to blow fans away every time," says front man Zac Brown. And following the band's latest addition of a "eat-and-greet" pre-show ritual, where they invite fans to join them while dining on southern-cuisine specialties created by Zac himself, it's no surprise they've been nominated for the Academy of Country Music's fan-voted Entertainer of the Year award.

Entertainer of the Year is now open and votes for Zac Brown Band can be cast at: http://bit.ly/ZBB-ACM

BLAKE SHELTON DANCE CONTEST

Hundreds of Country music fans and line dance enthusiasts turned out for a two-week, three-round Blake Shelton “Hillbilly Bone” dance competition at world-famous Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth, Texas.

Contestants competed for a chance to win autographed Blake Shelton memorabilia and merchandise.  Fifty dancers were chosen in each of the first two preliminary rounds, based on their mastery of Billy Bob’s dance instructor Wendell Nelson’s custom line dance for Shelton’s No. 1 hit single, “Hillbilly Bone.”  Ten lucky contestants (pictured below) were chosen in the third and final round as the competition winners.

Shelton’s Hillbilly Bone SIX PAK release, featuring Trace Adkins on the self-titled hit single, has remained in the Top 5 on Billboard’s Country Albums Chart since its release four weeks ago and has already sold more than 140,000 copies to date.

Nashville-based dance venue marketing company, Marco Club Connection, organized the “Hillbilly Bone” club promotion and dance contest with Shelton’s label, Reprise Records.  More photos from the competition are available at www.MarcoClubConnection.com.

Troops as part of the Stars for Stripes tour. The "We've Not
Forgotten" tour will take place throughout Iraq from April 29 - May 3.
In addition to full band concerts, Worley will also be performing
special acoustic sets at various remote FOB's (Forward Operating
Bases) for troops who rarely receive celebrity entertainment.

A long-time supporter for the United States Armed Forces, Worley has
toured somewhere overseas at least once a year since 2002. In
recognition of those efforts, he has received numerous awards for his
service, including the VFW Americanism Award, the USO Merit Honor and
the U.S. Army Appreciation Award. Although, Worley says he doesn't
make these trips to promote his career or for publicity. It's merely
his way to show support to the troops.

GRETCHEN'S "I GOT YOUR COUNTRY RIGHT HERE" ALBUM OUT TODAY

Gretchen Wilson's fourth studio album, I Got Your Country Right Here,
hits stores on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, and she will perform her "Work
Hard, Play Harder" hit single on the "CBS Early Show" on Wednesday
morning, March 31. Gretchen produced the album with Blake Chancey and
John Rich, and the disc is the first release on her recently-launched
Redneck Records label.
The three-star album review in this week's People Magazine called
the title track "butt kicking" and the "Earrings Song," penned by
Rivers Rutherford, Monty Criswell, "a catfight-ready stomp." Michael
McCall writes, "Her first album for her own company ratchets up
everything she's accentuated from the start: Blustery southern rock
touting a hard-partying, one-of-the-boys attitude and an in-your-face
allegiance to blue-collar ideals" in his Associated Press review.

Gretchen co-wrote two songs on the album and turned to Nashville's
heaviest hitters on the other nine cuts. In addition to Rutherford and
Criswell, Al Anderson, Dave Berg, Becca Bramlett, Rodney Clawson,
Dallas Davidson, Bob Dipiero, Tom Hambridge, Terry McBride, Vicky
McGehee, John Rich,  Chris Stapleton, Jeffrey Steele, Sam & Annie
Tate, Bobby Terry all contributed songs on the album. "The songwriters
are the creative heart and soul that is the beginning of this
project," said Gretchen.

In addition to the 11-song album, Gretchen is offering a unique Deluxe
Edition Package, which includes the I Got Your Country Right Here CD,
a 32-page full-color photo book containing never-before-seen pictures
of Gretchen at work and at play, a poster-size replica of the U.S.
Constitution and a 3' x 5' "I Got Your Country Right Here" flag in a
special collector's box. The special package is offered only through www.RedneckRecords.com
, and Gretchen is autographing the first 500 copies.

BRAD PRANKS HIS WIFE

Brad Paisley's wife Kimberly may never leave her 2 year old son,
Huckleberry, home with dad again. That's because when she went to New York for business related to her acting career recently, she left dad Brad in charge and came home to a surprise..Brad says,"And, she left me this big list of things to do, like 'no gluten, be sure he takes a nap, no TV.' So, what we did, my band and I when she left,  we had a coast-is-clear situation, we went and bought a doll, life-sized, most
realistic doll we could find and dressed it up in his clothes and filmed where we had the doll on a horse. And, we wanted to see how far down this hill the stroller would go and we filmed all this stuff, these ficticious  things that we put my son through...shooting guns, a revolver shooting at a target, he's not even two. And, when she got
home I had it all edited and showed it to her and pressed play...she thought it was horrifying but hilarious."

Will the film make Huck a star?..."No," says Brad. "We showed it to some people at the Sedona Film Festival and the wanted to show it. I said I didn't want to really put this film out showing my son, but they said they just wanted to show it at the festival and no one else would see it. But, I don't really want it out, I don't want it on the  internet."  Brad says he will probably show it at some other film festivals but not make it available to the public.

BRAD PAISLEY WON'T CAMPAIGN FOR ACM ENTERTAINER OF YEAR TROPHY

Brad is one of 8 nominees for this year's ACM Entertainer of the Year award. But, he doesn't plan on doing any personal campaigning for votes.

"I'm uncomfortable campaigning," he says simply. "Honestly, I don't like that part of it. I understand that people love to get involved and it's cool that they can, but vote for who you want."

PAISLEY may not need to do any personal campaigning other than what he
did by the example of putting on one of the most entertaining tours of the last year and 3 months.

The Academy of Country Music Awards, air Sunday, April 18, on CBS at 8
p.m./7 p.m. Central, with Reba McIntire as host from Las Vegas.

The award – the ACM's top honor – is selected by fans via an online
ballot, with voting to begin April 1.

Gretchen’s “Work Hard, Play Harder” hit single is Top 30 on the
national country charts, and the corresponding music video is in
rotation at CMT Pure, CMT and GAC and a host of other regional and
local video shows and video pools.  The “Work Hard, Play Harder” music
video can be viewed by clicking: http://www.gretchenwilson.com/playharder
  <http://www.gretchenwilson.com/playharder/> .

PERSONAL NOTE:
Gretchen Wilson's new album on her own label is a tribute to the Honky
Tonk soul she  has and that made her famous in the first place. If you
liked her the first time you heard her, you'll love her now thanks to
anthems like  the title song, and the first single, "Work Hard, Play
Harder."  The whole collection makes you want to go on a honky tonk
hopping, beer-drinkin', chick-chasing weekend that you hope never
ends. That's a tribute to Blake Chancey's ability to totally get
Wilson (who co-produced the record).

Beyond, the patented kickers, Gretchen showed off her ability to sing
it slow and sultry with the tale of irresistible temptation in "I'm
Only Human." Plus she closes out the CD with one of the best female
ballad vocals delivered by anybody in a long time on a great song.
With simple guitar and cello accompaniment, Gretchen delivers her most
sensitive, evocative, heart grabbing vocal yet on the 11th cut of the
record, "I'd Love To Be Your Last."

Going with your own indy label is always a gamble, but Gretchen Wilson
has given herself a great shot with this debut album on her Redneck
Records.

BEEN THERE, DRUNK THAT” INSPIRES NEW VIDEO AND DRUNKEN SOCIAL
NETWORKING SITE

Image
cf.com
Brady Seals recently released the anthem-in-the-making new radio single, “Been There, Drunk That,” from his current album, Play Time,  along with timely PSAs encouraging responsible drinking.  To  counterbalance the sensible and sober message, Seals filmed a dizzying and entertaining video for the song and launched BeenThere DrunkThat.com as a social networking site celebrating and  lamenting drunken tales and porcelain bowl praying.

From moonshine to cognac and beer pong to body shots, “Been There, Drunk That,” written by Seals and Bill Whyte, name checks about every alcoholic beverage known to partiers and every possible way to consume it.  The video needed to be equally festive so StarCity hired  Nashville director James King who used the city’s nightlife as a
backdrop shooting in hotspots such as Tin Pan Alley, Valentino’s and East Nashville’s Red Door.  Throughout the video, Seals acts as the voice of reason, telling the inebriated main character, comedian/actor Taylor Mosbey, “no thanks Joe, I’ve been down that road, been there, drunk that.”

Check out the video on Brady's YouTube page here and look for it soon on CMT Pure, CMT.com, GACtv.com, Roughstock.com and Yahoo! Music, among many other sites.  Digital Rodeo posted a behind-the-scenes look at “Been There, Drunk That” here.

KENNY CHESNEY READY TO RE-VISIT THE OPRAH SHOW

Image
CF.COM
Kenny Chesney is headed to Chicago this Saturday to spend time with Oprah Winfrey to promote the upcoming release of his just completed “Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3-D” - which arrives in movies theatres across the country April 21st.

The Oprah Winfrey episode will air April 9.  Providing a first peek at the movie, centered around 5 of the singer/songwriter's dozen NFL stadium shows from last year, Chesney will also give Oprah a view into the man who exists beyond the rock star.

“If there's one thing about Oprah,” Chesney says of the talk show host, “it's the way she makes you feel so comfortable and so understood. I've done her show three times, I think, and every time, you work harder than you realize – ‘cause you just want to be as good as she is - and you open up more than you knew you could… and sometimes you even find out things about yourself. Or at least, I do!"

ALSO...Chesney took a field team from “Oprah” with him to the Florida Keys for a very special afternoon. Hard at work on his next album, Chesney's watching his current single “Ain't Back Yet,” which has been added to his Greatest Hits II, moving up the country radio charts. The end theme from his April 21 released “Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3-D,” “Aint Back Yet” captures the verve, the rush and the way dreams drive you to some pretty amazing, crazy places along the way.

JOSH TURNER TO RELEASE NEW SINGLE "ALL OVER ME"

Image
CF.COM
Josh Turner met the press yesterday at his #1 party in Nashville to talk about his recent chart topper "Why Don't We Just Dance." Josh said he was pleased that the song stayed at #1 for a full month..but still wanted it to go for 5. "When it was there for the fourth week it was when the human nature side of me kicked in and it was 'Alright let's go for 5!' It was funny when I found out we didn't get the 5th week I was kind of moping around the kitchen for about two or three minutes and I was, 'What do have to complain about?!'" I immediately changed my attitude and was very thankful that feat because prior to that I'd only had a couple of two-weeks at #1 songs."

JOSH TO TOUR WITH ALAN

Also, Josh talked about going out on tour with Alan Jackson this year. "We're  goint to go out and do 50 minutes in front of him, we did a few dates with him last year and we're looking forward to kicking the year off with him, he and I have the same kind of fans and so it's going to be fun to play to that crowd again for 15 to 20 dates."

NEXT UP FOR JOSH...his new single going for adds April 5th is "All Over Me."
Josh says, "I heard that song for the first time and when I heard it I knew, it was obvious that it was very radio friendly and I don't normally gravitate to that type of song, but when I heard it,  something just hit me about it that it had Hit potential, like when I heard "Would You Go With Me" for the first time. I knew that had hit potential and feel the same way about this one."

OPRAH AND TIM McGRAW GIVE LADY A THAT  FEELING THEY'VE ARRIVED

Image
CF.COM
Lady Antebellum is one act that has been on a steady upward angle for the last two years and it's finally sinking in to them that they're doing well so far. Charles told about one moment that made him feel like they'd arrived, "I had a moment, when we were leaving the Oprah Show and we had to get back in time for one of the Tim McGraw shows..and so Capitol was kind enough to charter a plane so that we could get back. And, we're all in there, I'm in the back listening to music, looking out the window, had a little drink there and we'd just done "Oprah" and we're going to open for Tim McGraw and I just had this moment, 'this is wild' and I was like, 'It's happening, this is happening! We're in the midst of it and we had never dreamed that we could go platinum and having a #1 song...this is it."
Hillary added, "And, no matter what happens after this, we've done that and we just have to focus on that we've been so blessed."
